The Central PA 358 Point Series kicked of a jammed packed weekend at Williams Grove Speedway Friday night with the kickoff of the Nouse Signs and Graphics 358 Sprint Car Summer Series presented by Freedom Powersports 5 race series. Brie Hershey would lead all 25 laps to pick up her first feature win of 2016 over a hard charging Doug Hammaker. Nyle Berkes would have his best finish of 2016 coming home in 3rd while Kevin Nouse and Kyle Denmyer rounded out the top 5.
Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway Adrian Shaffer would come from his 8th starting spot to claim his 2nd point series win of 2016 and his 3rd overall in the 358 division taking the lead from Friday night's winner Brie Hershey on lap 15. Matt Campbell would back up his 2nd place finish last week at Lincoln with another close runner up finish. Hershey would cap off the weekend with a 3rd place finish while Hammaker and Jeff Halligan rounded out the top 5.
With his 5th place finish on Saturday Jeff Halligan was able to keep the Central PA 358 Point Series lead by 9 points over season long series point leader and Saturday feature winner Adrian Shaffer. Matt Campbell is sitting 3rd just 11 points back from the series point lead with 2015 Series Champion Doug Hammaker and Jeff Rohrbaugh rounding out the top 5.
This coming weekend the 358 series will be split with races being held at both Friday night tracks Trail Way Speedeway and for the first time as support for the 2016 Central PA Speedweek at Williams Grove Speedway. The will be the only point series races next week.
The Central PA 358 Point Series will be presenting the 2016 Most Popular Driver Award to Trey Hivner at the July 2nd event at Lincoln Speedway in a special cerimoney on the front stretch in front of all the fans.
