CARMEN PERIGO WINS 1ST WINGLESS SPORTSMAN FEATURE AT TRAIL-WAY SPEEDWAY Myers & Snyder Claim Micro Wins; Stock Features Postponed Due to Rain

Hanover, PA (6/1/18) – Carmen Perigo dominated the inaugural running of the Path Valley Wingless Sportsman at Trail-Way Speedway. From the drop of the initial green, Perigo took complete control of the 25-lap feature race, leading every lap, despite losing his power steering five laps into the race.

“Racing here without a wing is so much more fun than racing with a wing!” Perigo exclaimed after exiting his Walt Bigler owned, Fine Line Auto Body, Finkenbinder Funeral Homes, FMX Graphics #93 machine.

Perigo held a comfortable lead through the entirety of the feature, but the race of the night went to Tony Jackson, Chris Meleason, Billy Brian, Jr., and Steve Whary. The four drivers battled for several laps, often side-by-side, for second through fifth.

Meleason was able to move into the runner-up spot as the third and sixth place drivers, Brian Jr. and Whary were involved in a lap 15 caution, retiring both drivers for the night. Two laps later, another caution was brought out, this time by Steven Kottie. During the caution, Jackson exited to the pit area, altering the look of the entire top five within a few short laps.

Meleason finished in the runner-up position and earned the “Strong Arm Challenge Award,” which is given to the first finisher with manual steering. Meleason received a $50 gift certificate from JTM Tire & Alignment. He was followed by 17th starting Mamma’s Pizza of Wellsville Hard Charger, Joey Biasi, Craig Perigo, and Steve Wilbur completing the top five.

Heat winners for the 19 Wingless Sportsman were Perigo, Whary and Jackson.

Cory Myers and Brian Marriott thrilled the crowd with a back-and-forth battle in the Mason Dixon 270 Micro Sprint 20-lap feature.

Myers took the lead on the initial green until lapped traffic became a factor on lap seven. By lap eight, Marriott was only a half a car length behind Myers and was able to get around Myers on the backstretch when Myers got tangled up with a lapped car.

Marriott maintained the lead for another eight laps until Myers made a dominating comeback and passed Marriott with two laps remaining. Marriott was unable to get close enough to challenge Myers for the win and finished in the runner-up spot.

Steven Cox finished third followed by Joe Long, Jr. and Brent Bull completing the top five. Eighth finishing, Mike Boer, started 20th and was able to collect the Donahue Motorsports Hard Charger award.

Heats for the 21 270 Micro Sprints were won by Bull, Myers and Long Jr.

Jesse Snyder led the entire 20-lap 600 Micro Sprint feature, Friday night, at Trail-Way Speedway.

Snyder admitted he was a bit nervous with veterans Jim Young and Travis Keiser starting around him, but he was easily able to hold off any and all challenges he received.

Young finished second followed by Keiser, Donahue Motorsports Hard Charger Tyler Walton and Bradley Weber

Newly acquired sponsor, Horses Deserve A Second Chance, out of Gettysburg, PA, put up extra money for not only the feature winner (an extra $50), but also to two drivers through a random draw on the frontstretch. Keiser and Brian Kramer each received the extra $25, thanks to Horses Deserve A Second Chance! For more information, please visit www.horsesdeserveasecondchance.com!

Heat winners for the 600 Micro Sprints were Snyder and Young.

A heavy rain blanketed the speedway with only four laps completed in the 20-lap Street Stock feature race. With heavier rains forecasted for the next few hours, track management made the decision to postpone the remainder of the Street Stock feature and the entire Limited Stock feature. The Street Stock feature will resume on Friday, June 8th. The Limited Stock makeup date will be announced soon.

Next Friday, Trail-Way hosts the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic 358 Sprints, Limited Stocks and the Street Stocks. The Mason Dixon 270 Micro Sprints will run the annual Gary Kiefert Memorial race. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with heats scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m.
