Abbottstown, PA (May 15, 2019) – With the sun shining on a Wednesday evening, 43 cars signed into the pits for the $10,000 to win Gettysburg Clash. Wednesday marked the World of Outlaws’ first visit to Central PA in 2019 and leading up to the race the Posse vs. the Outlaws narrative was alive and well.

As Lance Dewease climbed out of his car in victory lane after the 35-lap feature, chants of “Posse” could be heard loud and clear. Despite starting on the pole of the dash, Lance finished second to David Gravel. The two shared the front row of the main event with Gravel getting the lead when the green flag dropped.

Daryn Pittman nearly got by Dewease for second but Dewease held the spot. Brad Sweet went to work Tim Shaffer for the fourth spot and tried the low side in 3 and 4 but couldn’t take the position.

Dewease started to reel Gravel in with some good runs coming off of turn 2, but every time Dewease would get close, Gravel managed create more distance between the two.

Gravel and Dewease hit lapped traffic on lap 7. As the leaders worked their way around lapped cars, Gravel was able to keep Dewease at bay. On lap 12 it looked like Dewease was closing in on Gravel, but again Gravel pulled away.

Dewease had Gravel’s lead down to under a second on lap 16. Both Dewease and Gravel went to the bottom in turns 1 and 2 on lap 18 with Dewease coming out with the lead. Dewease created distance between Gravel right away, but Gravel caught up to him in lapped traffic.

Just like when Gravel would pull away when Dewease got close, Dewease did the same to Gravel after he caught him battling lapped cars. Dewease had his lead up to over a second with 10 laps to go.

The first caution came out on lap 28 for Pittman when he got turned around in turn 3. Pittman was running third when he brought out the caution and was able to rejoin the field.

With under 10 laps remaining, Dewease led the field to the cone for a single file restart. Gravel was right on Dewease’s bumper on the restart but Dewease held him off. Ryan Smith got around Lucas Wolfe for fourth.

Lap 29 saw the second caution of the race as Brian Montieth, Shaffer and Brandon Rahmer got caught up in turns 3 and 4. Montieth rejoined the field.

This time Dewease got a good jump on the restart. Smith also had a solid restart and got around Gravel for second riding the top of turns 3 and 4.

With clean air Dewease was glued to the bottom of the track in the turns and was separating himself from the rest of the field as Smith was rim ridding the corners to try and catch him.

Dewease had over a second lead with two laps to go and beat Smith to the checkered flag by 1.677 seconds. Gravel held onto third. Brad Sweet crossed the line fourth and Shane Stewart completed the top five.

Donny Schatz was the hard charger. After using a provisional to start 25th, Schatz finished the night 11th.

Schatz, the current point leader of the World of Outlaws and Alan Krimes, the current point leader at Lincoln, each had to use a provisional to compete in the A-main. It is also worth noting that last year’s Gettysburg Clash winner, Freddie Rahmer, failed to qualify for the main event. Rahmer won the C-main and finished 11th in the B-main.

Heat winners were Brad Sweet, Lance Dewease, David Gravel and Tim Shaffer.

This Saturday, May 18, Lincoln Speedway will be dark. The following Saturday, May 25, Lincoln Speedway is back in action with the 410 Sprints, 358 Sprints and Central PA Legends. Racing starts at 7:30PM with pit gates opening at 5:00PM and grandstand gates opening at 5:30PM.
