Selinsgrove Opener Three Weeks Away, March 21 Mod Icebreaker Taking Shape Wight, Pauch, Pauch Jr. among entrants, Sprints 4K & Super Lates 2K To Win March 29, Race Day At The Dealership This Saturday, March 7
Selinsgrove, Pa. – The 2020 Selinsgrove Speedway season opener is now just three weeks away, featuring the return of the Icebreaker 40 for combined big and small block modifieds coming up on Saturday, March 21 at 2 pm.
The Icebreaker 40 will pay $5,000 to win while the main event for the 602 sportsman modifieds will pay $1,000 to take the victory.
Just this week, Larry Wight of Phoenix, New York, confirmed his entry for the big event, last run in any form back in 2013.
Wight recently picked up three big block mod wins in a row while competing with the Super DIRTcar Series in Volusia, Florida.
Last week, it was veteran modified star Billy Pauch Sr. and his accomplished son Billy Pauch Jr. that announced their expected entry.
Drivers want to be sure to get their names on the pre-registry lists in order to be eligible for posted bonus money!
Any driver pre-registered by March 12 for the $24,000-plus Icebreaker 40 event will be eligible for a $500 bonus. Likewise, any crate 602 sportsman mod driver who is pre-registered before March 12 will be eligible for a $200 bonus.
Grandstand and pit gates will open at 11 am on March 21 with qualifying slated for 2 pm.
Adult general admission is set at $20 with grandstand reserved seats priced at an additional $2. Student general admission for ages 12 – 17 is just $15. Kids ages 11 and under will be admitted for free. Pit Passes are $40.
As the track ramps up for the 2020 season, eyes are also on Sunday afternoon, March 29 when March Mayhem featuring the Modern Heritage 410 sprints and the Jeff’s Auto Body and Recycling super late models hit the track for the first time this season.
The sprint cars will race for $4,000 to win while the super lates compete for $2,000 to take the victory.
Gates for that show will open at noon with qualifying slated for 2 pm.
Selinsgrove Speedway will team with Selinsgrove Ford to hold “Race Day at the Dealership,” coming up this Saturday, March 7 from 10 – 3 pm.
Speedway supporter Selinsgrove Ford is located just blocks north of the speedway at the intersection of Rt. 522 and business Rt. 15, in Selinsgrove.
Fans will be able to view the new Selinsgrove Ford F-150 pace truck at the show as well as pick up 2020 printed schedules and renew season seats and suites before they go on sale to the general public.
The deadline to renew seats and suites is March 7. Seats and suites will go on sale to the general public beginning March 9.
Weather permitting, “Race Day at the Dealership” will feature stock cars and sprint cars on display.
