Inside Line Promotions - JACKSON, Minn. (May 20, 2020) - Mason Daniel will make his first career appearance at the famed Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 this weekend when the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series invades the high-banked oval in Pevely, Mo.

"I haven't raced there, but I've been there to watch an Outlaws race once," he said. "It seems like a good track. It looks like a mini Eldora. I'm really excited to race there."

This weekend marks the first of four straight weekends with the World of Outlaws, which returned to action on May 8 after being off for approximately three months because of COVID-19.

"It feels good to be racing again," Daniel said. "We've raced so sporadically and then we're battling the rain out season. It's like one thing after another. It's been a slow season so far. It still feels like the offseason kind of so it's good to see races coming up."

Daniel competed last Friday at the Great Lakes Shootout presented by Tweeter Contracting and Harvey's Five Star Roofing hosted by Jackson Motorplex. He qualified 25th quickest in his group before advancing to eighth in a heat race and to 10th in a B Main.

Although the result wasn't what Daniel desired, the biggest objective achieved was the progress the team made on loosening the sprint car, which has been uncharacteristically tight throughout the young season. Daniel noted that Friday showcased a step in the right direction and that he is looking forward to continuing to make progress this weekend.

"We made improvements," he said. "We figured some stuff out. It wasn't damaging points-wise since it wasn't a World of Outlaws race so we got to learn without as much pressure. I wish we got the second night in to keep learning, but the rain halted that."

The event finale rained out on Saturday.
