Sides Aiming for Successful Result at a Favorite Track This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions - JACKSON, Minn. (May 19, 2020) - Jason Sides is heading to one of his favorite tracks this weekend when the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series invades Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.

The high-banked oval in Pevely, Mo., features races on Friday and Saturday.

"It's close to home and one of my favorite tracks that we race at," Sides said. "I like the whole race track. You can run the top or the bottom. They keep up with it most times where it doesn't rubber up. I hope the weather will cooperate with us and we can race both nights."

Sides was victorious at the track in 2012 and he posted a runner-up result in 2015 to highlight the last few appearances.

Sides ventured to Jackson Motorplex last weekend for the Great Lakes Shootout presented by Tweeter Contracting and Harvey's Five Star Roofing. He began the two-day event on Friday by qualifying second quickest in his group. However, a sixth-place result in a heat race relegated him to a B Main.

"We got the good pill draw we needed to get qualified well," he said. "It's not like our normal format. They still inverted the heat races so that put us on the second row. With the six-heat format only taking three we got shuffled back before we got rolling good. The next thing you know we're having to run a B Main."

Sides won a B Main to lock into the main event. He gained a position to finish 18th.

"I got going in the B Main," he said. "When we were by ourselves in qualifying and in that B Main it was really good. When we were behind other cars it wasn't very comfortable. We made some changes from the heat race to the B Main that got it better, too. We got it to where we could run around wide open."

The event finale rained out on Saturday.
