Williamson Shows Speed in Sprint Car After Capturing Micro Sprint Win

Inside Line Promotions - ELDON, Mo. (May 27, 2020) - Garet Williamson broke through for a good showing in ASCS regional competition last Sunday after he recorded his first triumph of the season the previous weekend.

The Bryant Paver Motorsports driver moved forward in his heat race and showed his best speed of the 2020 season during Sunday's ASCS Sooner Region event at Lake Ozark Speedway. After placing third in his heat race from the sixth starting position, the Missouri native made the feature redraw and drew the No. 7 to line up on the inside of the fourth row.

Williamson was able to garner a season-best 12th-place finish during the first A Main he has made this season.

"I started off really good," he said. "We went sixth to third in our heat race, made the redraw and started seventh. I stepped on it about the third lap and had to go to the back, but we came back to 12th.

"We are definitely making a lot of progress. Each week I feel like I get more and more comfortable in the car. We are growing together as a team. We are learning how to work together and what works. We are just getting smoother every week as a team."

Another recent shining moment came on May 15 when Williamson wheeled a Mo State Construction micro sprint to a feature victory at KC Raceway in Independence, Mo.

"It helps with your confidence," he said. "Laps in any kind of race car help and I'm glad we were able to do so well. We won the heat race from second and the feature from sixth so it was a fun night."

Williamson gets another crack at adding to his chest of experience this weekend. He will run a pair of ASCS Sooner Region events in Oklahoma on Friday at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker during the Red Dirt Classic and Saturday at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola during the 13th annual Danny Martinez Jr. Memorial.

"I need to make less mistakes and, obviously, get more seat time," he said. "That's what we lack the most. I just need to get more comfortable in the car and know what works better and what doesn't. There is a lot that goes into it."
