BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 16, 2020) – Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing put together another successful weekend at the Sprint Car Capital of the World, this time earning a runner-up finish and an 11th-place finish, respectively, during the Brownells Big Guns Bash on Friday and Saturday, June 12-13. The ten-time World of Outlaws champion is now within 26 points of the 2020 World of Outlaws championship lead, trailing defending title winner, Brad Sweet, with a long schedule to come.
Schatz’ runner-up result on Friday, leading laps two through nine before losing a duel to Kyle Larson, was the product of a stout preliminary performance that included not only a heat race win, but also the second fastest time during his respective group of qualifiers. There were 53 cars on hand.
“He just found a different line in (turns) one and two,” Schatz said of Friday’s main event, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Advance Professional/Carquest Auto Parts/Technet Professional Automotive Service/Ford Performance/Mobil 1/Sage Fruit/Curb Records/Absolute Automation & Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Digital Ally/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car. “I didn’t think it would stay that long, so I didn’t try it. You can’t be making any mistakes. But, if you’re going to make them, now is the time to do it. It was a real solid night.”
Donny Schatz will continue his quest toward the 2020 World of Outlaws championship with another doubleheader weekend, this time visiting the Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana, on Friday and Saturday, June 19-20. Schatz was scored 13th during his 2019 Tri-State attempt, kicking-off the evening with a heat race victory.
Fans are encouraged to follow the progress of Donny Schatz, Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing and the No. 15/Advance Professional/Carquest Auto Parts/Technet Professional Automotive Service/Ford Performance/Mobil 1/Sage Fruit/Curb Records/Absolute Automation & Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Digital Ally/J&J Auto Racing motorsports team on the Web and on social media.
