Dover Produces Eighth Straight Top Five for Third Year in a Row

Inside Line Promotions - JACKSON, Minn. (June 23, 2020) - Jack Dover hustled to his eighth consecutive top-five finish to start the season last Friday at Jackson Motorplex.

Dover, who drove for Rick and Chris Bowers for the first time this year, picked up a fourth-place result during the Midwest Sprint Touring Series and DeKalb/Asgrow Midwest Power Series presented by GRP Motorsports event.

It marked his eighth straight top five, which is a feat Dover has accomplished each of the last three years. Dover's streak of top fives is his best since recording 13 in a row during the summer of 2015.

"My main goal was to keep the top fives alive," he said. "Our worst finish this year in eight races is fourth. It's a great start to the season and I think we'll keep building from there."

The night began on a rough note.

"We missed hot laps because the car came out of gear," he said. "We fixed it before qualifying, but we didn't have a chance to watch the track to see what it was doing. We winged it in qualifying."

Dover qualified 13th quickest out of the 34 drivers, which put him on a pole of a heat race. He won that to lock into the main event.

"We got a feel for the track in time trials and adjusted the car," he said. "We were pretty good in the heat race. All night long the track was around the bottom because they had a lot of rain the night before.

"Come feature-time we started seventh and got up to fifth right away on the first lap. We battled with Carson McCarl the rest of the race for fourth place. I got by him with seven or eight laps to go. Eric Lutz had some distance on us and we were able to reel him in, but with the bottom being the best groove there wasn't an opportunity to pass and we finished fourth."

Dover will return to his sprint car for a pair of Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints races this Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., and Saturday at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa.

"I'm pretty excited," he said. "We've won a lot of races at I-80. I feel confident from our past there and with the way our season is going. We've been to Shelby County once and we finished second there last year. That gives me confidence going back this weekend."
