Kerry Madsen Caps World of Outlaws Weekend in North Dakota With Top Five

Inside Line Promotions - WEST FARGO, N.D. (Aug. 25, 2020) - Kerry Madsen produced a solid weekend with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series in North Dakota.

The Killer Instinct Crossbows sponsored Big Game Motorsports driver placed eighth on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks during the Second Leg of the Northern Tour and fourth on Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway during the Red River Rumble.

Madsen qualified eighth quickest and finished fourth in a heat race to lock into the main event on Friday at River Cities Speedway, where he lined up on the inside of the sixth row.

"It seemed like we passed a bunch of cars," he said. "We were really good and felt like we could have finished up the order a little more. We moved up and did 40 laps around the top. It was tight racing the whole way. That's part of that track. It's always action packed with something going on."

Madsen's eighth-place result was his 24th top 10 of the season and 12th with the World of Outlaws.

The team ventured to Red River Valley Speedway on Saturday. Madsen timed in 13th quickest in qualifying before he picked up a position in a heat race to finish fourth. That gave him the 10th starting position for the A Main.

"We committed to the top pretty early, which worked out," he said. "We got to third and I felt like I was quicker than the two cars ahead. I tried to switch to the bottom a couple of times and it cost me a spot. It was one of those deals where I think if I was more patient and committed to the top we could have possibly got to second. It was a decision you make at the time. As good as everyone is, you have to try to win because wins aren't going to fall in your lap."

Madsen's rally from 10th to fourth place earned him the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars. It also marked his fourth top five of the season with the series.

Big Game Motorsports plans to race this Saturday at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., and Sunday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., with the World of Outlaws.

"I haven't been to U.S. 36 Raceway for 15 years it seems like," he said. "With as quick as the cars are today and that track has some juice to it, it's going to be fast and action packed. I-80 is always a fun place to go to as well. It's a bit bigger and slicker."
