Port Royal Speedway- PORT ROYAL, Penn. (August 7, 2020) - Can you feel it? It is time to ‘Light the fires and kick the tires’ as It’ll be the ‘Rumble by the River’ coming to the Port Royal Speedway August 27th-29th featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series!!

The three-day event will feature some of the best late model drivers in the country competing against the River Valley Builders Super Late Model regulars for the largest three-day purse in the history of the Port Royal Speedway for the late model division. In total there will be $150,000 on the line for the drivers competing in this knock-down drag out fight for fender supremacy.

Thursday’s ‘Round 1’ will be 30-laps of distance and the winner will take home $10,000 for their efforts.  The combined purse for the feature tops $43,000 and racers will get $800 to start! They will be joined by the Selinsgrove Ford Limited Late Models on the card, who will also be racing for $1500/win.

Friday night it will be ‘Round 2’ and the 40-lap A-main will pay $12,000 to the winner and $1000 to start. The total purse for the night tops $47,000! Making their first visit to ‘The Speed Palace’ of 2020, the Mid-Atlantic Modifieds will be the supporting division and they will be competing for $1000 to win in a 20-lap feature event.

Saving the best for last, Saturday night’s ‘Round 3’ finale be 50-laps in distance and will pay $15,000 to the winner and $1000 to start the A-main. The total purse for the evening will be over a whopping $54,000!! The Mid-Atlantic Modifieds will once again be part of the evening and will be competing in a 25-lap feature for a $1500 winner’s share.

While it was previously it was announced that the Late Models would be racing for $50,000 on the Saturday night finale, circumstances out of our control negated the original plans. However, wanting to follow through on the commitment of having the series visit the speedway for three nights of racing this season for our fans, we found the best possible way to make it work for everybody involved.

Admission will be the same each night at $25 for General Admission, $10 for Students and $40 for Pit. There will be no reserved seating offered and all tickets can be purchased day of at the Speedway ticket offices. However regular season reserved seating will be honored for all three days of racing.

For those who may be visiting and are worried about the lack of advance ticket sales, the Speedway houses over 6,500 general admission seats that all provide excellent views of the track and an infield that rivals any track in the country in terms of size. So, there will be plenty of available seats all weekend.

Camping is available on a first come-first serve basis and it will be $30/night for spots with electric hook-ups and $20/weekend for all “dry spots”. Electric hook-up spaces are limited. Per Port Royal Borough request, campers can arrive as early as Wednesday, August 26th and must exit the property no later than Noon on Sunday, August 30th.

We are continuing to operate under CDC guidelines, and we encourage all patrons to wear masks and practice proper social distancing measures. There will be sanitizer stations located throughout the Speedway facilities and if you do not feel well, we encourage you to stay home and watch via PPV at www.lucasoilracing.tv

Fans will also be able to view the ‘Rumble by the River’ races on television later this season in a tape-delayed form. NBC Sports is scheduled to broadcast one night of racing on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 11:30pm, while MAV TV will broadcast three nights of racing on Dec. 10th, Dec. 17 and Dec. 24th - all at 10:00pm.
