Sides Records Second-Best World of Outlaws Result of Season at Devil's Bowl Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - MESQUITE, Texas (Sept. 22, 2020) - Jason Sides posted his second-best result of the season with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series last Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway, which hosted the Texas Outlaw Nationals.

Sides qualified fourth quickest and placed second in a heat race to lock into the dash. He advanced one position to place fourth in the dash and garner the starting spot on the outside of the second row for the A Main.

"It started out good," he said. "We drew last for qualifying, but it didn't hurt us because the track was really good all night. We qualified fourth and that put us on the front row of a heat race. We finished second to David Gravel and then we gained a spot in the dash. We were pretty good."

Sides ran inside the top five for most of the feature before a late restart cost him a handful of positions. He salvaged a ninth-place result, which was his fourth top 10 of the season.

"We were optimistic about the feature," he said. "It started out good, but on one of the restarts we were on the outside and running behind everybody in the dirty air the car took off and we lost a couple of spots. I think the only one that passed me when we were racing was (Brad) Sweet. We were running the top in turns three and four and he passed us on the bottom. We got down there and we were pretty good after that."

It was a strong result to cap a weekend that began on Friday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla. Sides timed in eighth quickest in qualifying and he finished fourth in a heat race to start the main event 11th.

"We were a little bit tight early and then got good," he said. "I kept using the brakes and they got to where they weren't stopping so I couldn't run as hard as I wanted to. We lost a few spots there at the end."

Sides battled for a top 10 throughout the majority of the race before dropping a couple of positions late and ending 13th.

Next up for the team will be a trio of World of Outlaws races this Thursday at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Ind.; Friday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio; and Saturday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., for the Commonwealth Clash.
