PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to Port Royal Speedway over the weekend for the Nittany Lion Showdown with the World of Outlaws, Gio Scelzi and KCP Racing would have one of their best outings together to date as Scelzi would pick up finishes of fourth and sixth place.

“I really think it was our best weekend as a team so far,” Gio Scelzi said. “We were quick time and second quick, made both dashes, and our fourth and sixth place finishes were really good finishes at a tough place against a really tough field.”

Friday night saw the two-day program get underway with Scelzi timing in second fastest in his qualifying group before racing to a win in his heat race.

Earning a berth in the Dash, Scelzi would pick up a sixth-place finish and take the green flag from the outside of the third row for the 25-lap feature event.

On the slick half-mile, Scelzi was able to quickly find himself battling for position in the top-five as he raced with Sheldon Haudenschild as well as PA locals Brock Zearfoss and Anthony Macri.

Keeping the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc/Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No.18 up front, Scelzi would close Friday night out with a fourth-place finish.

Saturday night brought on the final appearance of the year in PA for Scelzi and company, and the Fresno, CA driver would get his night kicked off in fine form as he earned quick time honors in qualifications.

Just as he did on Friday night, Scelzi would pick up the win in his heat race before tallying a third place finish in the Dash.

Lining up in the second row for the 30-lap feature event, Scelzi would again go toe-to-toe with the best from the World of Outlaws as well as the best of the PA Posse local contingent.

Scelzi would again find himself battling with the likes of Haudenschild, Zearfoss and Macri, as he would again do a great job of keep his entry in contention. When the checkered flag flew on the weekend, Scelzi would pick up his 13th Top-10- with KCP Racing in what was his 26th start with the team by way of his sixth-place result.

“We continue to learn a lot with our racecar, and after our performance at the Tuscarora 50 a couple of weeks ago, we were leaps and bounds better this weekend,” Scelzi noted.

KCP Racing would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Cox Design and Fabrication, Armor Electric Company, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
