Sides Returning to Kokomo Speedway Saturday for First Time Since 2015

Inside Line Promotions - ELDON, Mo. (Oct. 20, 2020) - The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series is down to two weekends of racing remaining this season and Jason Sides is aiming to finish on a high note.

The penultimate event is this Saturday at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Ind., where Sides most recently competed in June 2015. His best result during a handful of starts at Kokomo Speedway with the World of Outlaws was a 13 th-place showing in 2013.

"It's like a non-wing track," he said. "It's more like Haubstadt, kind of small. A lot of times when we've been there it's been up on the fence. I was just talking to some people the other day and heard they changed the dirt on it and it's around the bottom now, which would be good."

Sides raced in a pair of Outlaws events last weekend beginning on Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan. He qualified 19th quickest, ended sixth in a heat race, won the Last Chance Showdown and advanced from 21st to 17th in the A Main.

"We didn't get qualified where we needed to be," he said. "We changed a few things and ran the LCS. We were really good by ourselves out front. In the feature behind those cars we were really, really tight. On the start we couldn't get it turned and lost a few spots. From that point on we realized we had to stay out of dirty air. I just did my own thing to stay out from behind other people."

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway, which hosted the Jason Johnson Classic. Sides timed in 16th quickest. A fifth-place result in a heat race locked him into the main event.

"The track was a little choppy and had a curb in turns three and four," he said. "In the feature we didn't tighten up enough and it was dead slick. They had reworked it right before and the racing lane went right to the top. Once you get lapped you don't want to mess up anyone's race so I rode on the bottom staying out of the way."

Sides finished 19th.
