Krimes Charges to Top-Five Finish and Points Lead at Lincoln Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (March 31, 2021) - Alan Krimes backed up his recent triumph at Lincoln Speedway with a solid fifth-place effort Saturday night aboard his family owned No. 87 410ci sprint car.

Krimes also finished 19th on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., in the Stewart Smith Racing No. 27.

"I'm really still feeling out Stewart's car and starting to get comfortable, so I feel like we're gaining on things," Krimes said. "In regards to our family owned program we obviously have speed, so we're feeling really confident at this part of the season and looking to keep it going."

Krimes finished sixth in a heat race on Friday to lock himself into the A Main at Williams Grove Speedway. On a track that proved tough to pass on, Krimes hovered around the top 15 before pulling off the track early to conserve equipment.

"The track was pretty wet and narrow and honestly a little bit rough for my liking," he said. "We were not really making up a ton of ground, so instead of wearing equipment out we pulled off to see another day and we'll just keep working at it."

Saturday marked a return to his familiar No. 87 sprint car at Lincoln Speedway. He began the night by finishing where he started - eighth - in a heat race. Forced to run the B Main to qualify for the feature, Krimes advanced one position to finish third and garner the 21st starting spot in the main event.

Krimes was on the move early in the feature and by Lap 7 he had cracked the top 10. Staying glued to the bottom lane, Krimes made his way into fifth with three laps remaining and he held on for his third top five of the season. The 16 positions gained earned him the Hard Charger Award as well.

"We started off the night struggling as the track didn't really help us out too much, but we just kind of rode around and stayed patient and got ourselves into the A Main," he said. "I knew we had a good car, but when you're that far back you don't expect to pass that many cars. But the track widened out and really played into our favor. We just got as much as we could and ended up with a pretty good night.

"Honestly, I wish we would have had maybe another five laps or so and I think we might have ended up on the podium. It's hard to complain though when you pass that many cars. I'm really proud of our team's effort."

Krimes will monitor the weather this Friday at Williams Grove Speedway to potentially pilot the Stewart Smith Racing No. 27. He will then return to Lincoln Speedway on Saturday in his family owned No. 87. He enters Saturday's race as the points leader at 'The Pigeon Hills,' where he holds a 20-point advantage in search of his third career track title.

"As long as the track stays the way it has been the last couple of weeks I feel confident in our program," he said. "Any time the track provides you multiple lanes and allows you to race you feel good. We're coming in hot so hopefully we can keep it up."
