ST. HELENA, Calif. (April 19, 2021) – Rico Abreu’s four-race All Star Circuit of Champions stretch through Virginia and Pennsylvania may have started out slow, but things picked up in a hurry, as the St. Helena, California-native successfully put together a pair of top-ten finishes in his final two starts, highlighted with a podium run on Sunday evening at Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania.

Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Rowdy Energy/Lucas Oil Products/Curb Records/Self Made/No. 24 sprint car, led the first 22 circuits around Bedford’s high paced half-mile, eventually overtaken by Pennsylvania standout, Anthony Macri, during a single-file restart with eight laps remaining. Nearly crossing back underneath Macri, Abreu held on to finish second; his seventh top-five outcome of the 2021 season, as well as his 12th top-ten.

One night prior, Abreu finished ninth during Port Royal Speedway’s $10,000-to-win Keith Kauffman Classic. Honoring the speedway’s all-time sprint car win leader, Abreu started exactly where he finished at the “Speed Palace,” kicking-off his evening with a heat race victory.

“It feels good to put together a pair of solid results. Things didn’t really start out too well for us this weekend, but we kept our heads up and we kept working hard. Positive results create a lot of confidence and that’s what our team needs right now is confidence,” Rico Abreu said, who had to settle with a 16th-place score at Virginia on Thursday and a missed A-Main start at Williams Grove on Friday. “I can’t thank all of my partners enough for their hard work and support thus far in 2021. The plan is to get a win for them this weekend.”

Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will continue their 2021 campaign with a trip to Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee, on Thursday through Saturday, April 22-24. Dubbed the Bristol Throwdown, the two-day program, beginning with practice on Thursday, will award a combined winner’s share equaling $35,000; $10,000 on Friday and $25,000 on Saturday.
