Abbottstown, PA (April 10, 2021) – After starting the season with six different winners in six races, Tim Shaffer became the first repeat winner of 2021 at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday night. Shaffer lined up sixth and avoided a late race mishap to take the checkered flag and the $4,000 prize.

Scott Fisher and Aaron Bollinger shared the front row for the start of the 30-lap feature. Bollinger, who is in his sophomore 410 season and just turned 21 last week, had the lead coming out of turn 2. Fisher was in second and Dylan Norris was running third down the back stretch. Shaffer got by both Fisher and Norris in turn 4 to drive from sixth to second on the first lap.

The yellow flag came out on lap 2 for Matt Campbell who got turned around in turn 1. Campbell went to the pits and the team made repairs in the two-minute work time to get the car back out on the track.

Bollinger led Shaffer, Norris, Tim Glatfelter and Fisher to the cone for the single-file restart.

Shaffer hung with Bollinger on the start and was using the bottom with Bollinger ripping the high line around the track. Chase Dietz entered the top 5 on lap 3.

Bollinger continued to dominate on the high side as he approached lapped traffic on lap 6. As Bollinger worked his way by lapped cars, he was able to maneuver anywhere on the track.

Shaffer stuck with Bollinger and was on his bumper on lap 10. Dietz moved up to third on lap 11 from his eighth place starting spot.

Bollinger put two lapped cars between him and Shaffer on lap 15, allowing Dietz to close in on Shaffer for second.

Bollinger and Dietz got together in turn 4 on lap 22 bringing out the red flag. Bollinger jumped the cushion in turn three, slowing him down. Dietz had already committed to a slider and collected Bollinger as he slid back up the track.

Shaffer inherited the lead and led Glatfelter, Norris, Tim Wagaman and Freddie Rahmer on the restart.

Wagaman was working the top to try and take third from Norris. While the two battled, Freddie got by Wagaman for fourth. Tyler Ross followed making his way into the top five after starting tenth.

The white flag waved just as Shaffer was catching the tail end of the field. Shaffer won his second feature of the season by 2.561 seconds over Glatfelter. Norris held on for a season best third place finish. Freddie finished fourth and Ross completed the top five.

Heat race winners were Glenndon Forsythe, Dylan Norris and Aaron Bollinger. Three cars advanced 11 positions in the feature, Freddie Rahmer (15th to 4th), Billy Dietrich (20th to 9th) and Alan Krimes (24th to 13th). Danny Dietrich, who pulled a double, racing at both Port Royal and Lincoln on Saturday, advanced 10 positions from 21st to 11th.

Hayden Miller Scores First Career 358 Sprint Victory

Hayden Miller is in the midst of his second season running 358 sprint cars after making the jump from micros. Not only did Miller win his first feature in the division, he wired the field leading from the drop of the green to the checkered flag.

Miller shared the front row with veteran racer, and last week’s winner, Jeff Rohrbaugh. Kody Hartlaub got by Rohrbaugh on the start to take second with Miller holding on to the lead. Steve Owings got by Hartlaub at the line to take second on the first lap.

The caution came out on lap 1 when Tyler Esh spun out in turn 2 nearly landing on his side. Esh collected Ashley Cappetta. Cappetta used her two minutes of work time and rejoined the field.

Miller led Owings, Hartlaub, Rohrbaugh and Cody Fletcher on the restart. Miller got a good jump on the restart and then the red flag came out on lap 2. Brett Strickler took a wild ride in turn 4.

Fletcher and Zane Rudisill battled for fifth as they swapped fifth and sixth back and forth multiple times each lap.

Owings was closing in on Miller as they approached lapped traffic when Brett Wanner brought out the yellow flag on lap 8. Wanner was trying to exit the track in turn 2, but stopped on the edge of the ramp.

Miller paced the field ahead of Owings, Hartlaub, Rohrbaugh and Rudisill for the restart.

Owings tried to get his nose under Miller in turn 1 but Miller held the top spot.

The red flag flew again on lap 10 when Jon Stewart got upside down in turns 3 and 4. It was a rough night for Stewart. In addition to flipping in the feature, Stewart caught on fire due to a loose fuel line during hot laps.

Once again Owings looked to the inside of Miller on the restart to no avail.

Rudisill passed Rohrbaugh and Hartlaub on the back stretch to get to move from fifth to third in one lap.

Rudisill used the top to reel in Owings. Owings hit the guardrail on the inside of turn 2 allowing Rudisill to close in for the pass. The two raced side-by-side at the line with Owings holding the slight advantage. Rudisill was better in turns 1 and 2 while Owing’s car was better in 3 and 4.

Dylan Orwig brought out the yellow flag on lap 17 when he spun out in turn 4.

The top five for the restart were Miller, Rudisill, Owings, Hartlaub and Fletcher.

Rudisill looked to the outside of Miller but he took the line away to hold the lead. Rudisill was on Miller’s bumper with two laps to go but couldn’t make the pass.

Miller won his first 358 sprint car feature by .264 seconds over Rudisill. Owings crossed the line third and Hartlaub finished fourth. Fletcher completed the top five.

358 sprint car heat races were won by Jeff Rohrbaugh, Kody Hartlaub and Jordan Strickler.

Scott Schaffer Wins Outlaw Vintage Feature

Wes Cassel and Dave Dissinger started on the front row of the 20-lap feature for the Outlaw Vintage Racing Series. Cassel took the lead when the green flag dropped.

Mark Hahn and Dissinger raced side-by-side for second with Hahn taking the spot. Hahn stayed with Cassel as they closed in on lapped traffic.

Scott Schaffer made his way to third from his eighth starting spot and was closing in on the leaders when the caution came out on lap 6 when Jeff Paulson got backwards in turn 2.

Cassel led Hahn, Schaffer, Dissinger and Dingo Kirkwood on the restart. Kirkwood and Dissinger battled for fourth with Kirkwood taking the spot.

Schaffer worked his way by Hahn for second. Lapped traffic came into play allowing Schaffer to get by Cassel for the lead. Schaffer pulled away and parked his #77s in victory lane. Cassel crossed the line second and Hahn finished third. Kirkwood was fourth and Paulson rebounded from his early race spin to complete the top five.

Next Saturday, April 17, Lincoln Speedway is back in action with 410 Sprint Cars (time trials) and 358 Sprint Cars for the 18th Annual Weldon Sterner Memorial. Racing starts at 7PM with pit gates opening at 4:30PM and grandstand gates opening at 5PM.
