Abbottstown, PA (April 24, 2021) – Going into Saturday night’s racing competition Tyler Ross had one career 410 win at Lincoln and that came almost exactly 5 years and 1 week ago on April 16, 2016. Ross teamed up with car owner Rick Lefever for 2021 after an off-season that saw Ross put in a lot of work physically and mentally to prepare for the upcoming season. All of Ross’s hard work paid off on Saturday when he charged from his twelfth place starting spot to victory lane.

Dwight Leppo started on the pole of the 30-lap feature with Scott Fisher lined up on the outside of the front row.

Fisher used the top or turns 1 and 2 to lead down the back stretch. Jim Siegel got under Leppo as they drove into turn 3 to take second.

Ross used the high line around the track to drive from twelfth to fourth in two laps.

Siegel was closing in on Fisher as they approached lapped traffic when the yellow flag came out on lap 9. Tim Glatfelter was sitting in turns 3 and 4 facing traffic. Glatfelter rejoined the field.

Fisher led Siegel, Ross, Matt Campbell and Alan Krimes on the restart.

Siegel looked to the inside of Fisher for the lead which left the door open for Ross to drive by Siegel for second. Siegel slide Ross back in an attempt to reclaim second, but Ross held on.

Campbell closed in on Ross and Siegel as they battled for position and drove by Siegel for third coming out of turn 4 on lap 11.

Campbell was all over Ross trying to take over second when the yellow came out on lap 12. Billy Dietrich did a 360 spin in turn 1. Dietrich kept going, but Kerry Madsen got collected in the spin ending his night.

The top five for the restart were Fisher, Ross, Campbell, Siegel and Krimes. Ross tried the bottom on the restart in an attempt to take the lead while also holding off Campbell as he made a run for second.

Ross was closing in on Fisher at the halfway point and pulled a slide job in turns 3 and 4 on lap 16 and took the lead at the line by inches. Campbell followed and took over the second spot.

Ross and Campbell were both riding the wall around the track as they caught the tail end of the field on lap 22. Just as the leaders started to work their way through lapped traffic, the caution came out on lap 23 for Austin Bishop who slowed on the back stretch. Bishop came to a stop in turn 4 after having lost his brakes.

With seven laps to go Ross led Campbell, Krimes, Fisher and Chase Dietz to the cone for the restart. Both Ross and Campbell were looking to score career win number two at Lincoln in the 410 division.

Ross scored his first win of 2021 by .954 seconds over Campbell. Krimes crossed the line third and Freddie Rahmer finished fourth. Dietz completed the top five.

Heat race winners were Dwight Leppo, Glenndon Forsythe and Scott Fisher.

Bob Stough Best in Thrilling Legends Feature Finish

Bob Stough started on the pole for the 20-lap feature on Saturday night with young-gun, Stephen Wurtzer lined up on his outside. Despite the pole position, the win for Stough was not a walk in the park as he won a thrilling three-car battle that came down to the final turn.

When the green flag dropped on the field Wurtzer used the outside to lead the field out of turn 2. Stough was running second with Shaun Abney in third. Chris Transeau, who had won Friday night at Trail-Way Speedway to take the first race in the Wurtzer Garage Shoot Out, found himself in fourth place.

Wurtzer and Stough were pulling away from Abney and the rest of the field.

Stough had a solid run in the turns and was right on Wurtzer’s bumper.

Jeremy Ott was up to fifth from his ninth starting spot on lap 4. Stough looked to the outside of Wurtzer on the back stretch with Wurtzer holding onto the lead.

Lap 6 was an exciting one as Ott drove by Transeau for fourth and Stough looked to the outside of Wurtzer going into turn 3 to take the lead.

Wurtzer did not let Stough get far, and Ott was reeling them in as the laps ticked down.

Wurtzer was all over Stough at the halfway point trying to find a way to take back the lead. The two raced side by side at the line on lap 11 with Stough holding the advantage.

Ott caught up with Stough and Wurtzer to make it a three-car battle for the lead. Ott looked for a way under Wurtzer on lap 13 with Wurtzer holding the spot by a nose at the line. Only .163 seconds separated first and third.

Ott got by Wurtzer for second at the line with five laps to go. Wurtzer had the spot back by a nose on the following lap, now with only .149 seconds separating the top three cars.

A caution on lap 17 cooled down the action on the track momentarily. Choya Young stopped on the track coming out of turn 4.

With only three laps remaining Stough had to hold off Ott, Wurtzer, Transeau and his teammate Travis Perry on the restart.

Ott showed his nose under Stough in turns 1 and 2 with Wurtzer right behind him.

Stough had the lead when the white flag waved. Wurtzer got by Ott coming out of turn 2 and coming out of turn 4 it was a fierce battle to the checkered flag.

Stough won the race by .165 seconds over Ott. Wurtzer crossed the line third only .207 seconds behind Stough. Transeau finished fourth to claim the Wurtzer Garage Shoot Out Championship. Perry finished fifth, crossing the line under a second behind Stough.

Central PA Legends heat winners were Josh Schrum, Travis Perry, Bob Stough and Stephen Wurtzer.

Michael Altobelli Continues to Dominate in Mid Atlantic Modifieds

Michael Altobelli came into Saturday night’s competition having gone three for three in Mid Atlantic Modified races so far in 2021. With his $1,000 win at Lincoln, he made it four wins in four races on the season.

Steve Axtell started on the pole of the 25-lap feature and took the lead going into turn 1 with Jared Spalding racing him wheel-to-wheel down the back stretch. Spalding had the lead at the line with sixth starting Altobelli already working his way into second.

Jimmy Jesmer and Brandon Householder battled for fourth with Jesmer taking the spot.

Altobelli was reeling in Spalding and showed his nose to the leader on lap 5. The two raced side by side coming out of turn 4 with Spalding holding onto the top spot.

The yellow flag came out on lap 6 for TJ DeHaven who got spun around in turn 4.

The field lined up for a Delaware style restart, with the leader, Spalding, out front and the rest of the field side by side behind him.

Spalding continued to hold off Altobelli until lap 9 when Altobelli took the lead coming out of turn 4.

Cody Oliver raced his way to fourth from his 11th starting spot and Mike Franklin was up to fifth after starting 13th.

Altobelli was pulling away from Spalding and the rest of the field at the halfway point of the race when the caution came out on lap 16 for Spalding who came to a stop in turn 4.

Altobelli led the field for the Delaware style restart with Axtell and Oliver lined up behind him.

Oliver got by Axtell for second and it did not take long for Franklin to take third from Axtell.

Jesmer got high in turn 4 and ended up turned around bringing out the caution on lap 18.

Franklin got by Oliver for second on the restart. The top four were pulling away from the rest of the field as the laps wound down.

Altobelli got to the checkered flag first ahead of Franklin. Oliver finished third and Axtell held on to cross the line fourth. Brandon Householder completed the top five.

Next Saturday, May 1, Lincoln Speedway is back in action with 410 Sprint Cars, 358 Sprints (Summer Series) and Penn-Mar Vintage. Racing starts at 7:30PM with pit gates opening at 5PM and grandstand gates opening at 5:30PM.
