KYLE LARSON POCKETS $10,000 & HODNETT CUP AS RYAN GODOWN COLLECTS $3,000 FOR ODIFIED VICTORY TUESDAY NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA June 29 2021. . . . . . . . The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series packed the Grandview Speedway, but the 410 Sprint Cars delivered a show on Tuesday Night for PA Sprint Car Speedweek presented by Red Robin, with NASCAR driver Kyle Larson picking up the Sprint Car win. Ryan Godown dominated the NASCAR 358 Modified feature event.

Larson kept the fans on the edge of their seat. Aboard the #57 Silva Motorsports Sprint Car, the Elk Grove, CA-native led the final stretch of the event collecting the $10,000 prize and getting his name etched on the Greg Hodnett Cup Perpetual Trophy. This marks Larson’s fourth Grandview win in the past five PA Speedweek appearances.

“It’s always cool coming to Grandview, and I love running Pennsylvania Speedweek,” Larson exclaimed in Victory Lane.

While Larson picked up the win, it was no easy task, with Brent Marks and Danny Dietrich right on his tail.

“Brent got into some water on the bottom of the track and slipped up,” Larson explained. “That gave me the chance to get by him. I could hear and feel them coming up on the top.”

Marks finished in second and started in second driving by Anthony Macri to secure the top spot on Lap 1 and never looked back. “The Myerstown Missile” sliced and diced his way through the back markers as laps quickly ticked away on the 1/3-mile oval.

A close call for the leaders halted the action on lap 7 when Jeff Halligan spun, barely clipping third-place-runner Christopher Bell and collecting the #13 of Justin Peck – the winner of the night prior.

Marks continued his reign on the restart with Anthony Macri close behind, while Christopher Bell and Larson – who usually race in NASCAR-style race cars – battled in their open-wheel machines.

The action halted on lap 10 for a multi-car incident that ended with Michael “Buddy” Kofoid upside down in turn three while running mid-pack. The accident also involved fan favorites Ryan Smith and Freddie Rahmer.

The top four runners stayed the same when the green flag flew, with Larson moving into the runner-up spot at the mid-way point, and Danny Dietrich moving into fourth and then taking third just two circuits later.

The field tightened as lapped traffic proved tricky before a lap 26 caution for Paul McMahan.

Larson made a move on Marks at the restart taking the top spot and racing on for the victory. Marks settled for second, Danny Dietrich came home in third, Anthony Macri in fourth and Kyle Moody completing the top-five finishers.

Brent Marks set quick time with a lap of 11.888, collecting a $100 bonus dedicated to the Memory of Steve Smith Sr., who passed away in early June. Smith was the winner of the inaugural Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event in 1990.

410 Sprint Car Heat races were won by Anthony Macri, Rico Abreu, and Kyle Larson – who picked up ZEMCO Header Gift Certificates. Sprint Car B-Main was won by Ryan Taylor.

Ringoes, NJ’s Ryan Godown – a two-time Thunder on the Hill winner – picked up his first Grandview victory since 2018. By luck of the draw, Godown started in the second position on the field and took the lead on the initial circuit around the Bechtelsville oval.

With Godown leading, all eyes were on the battle for second with Brett Kressley and Duane Howard battling back-and-forth, while Jeff Strunk moved into fourth from a ninth-place starting position and then moved into second two circuits later.

The only caution of the program flew on lap 28 for Blaine Bracelin, but that didn’t stop Godown from sailing onto victory and the $3,500 winner’s share. Jeff Strunk finished in second, Duane Howard in third, Brett Kressley in fourth, and Craig VonDohren in fifth.

NASCAR 358 Modified GT Radiator Heat Races were won by Justin Grim, Duane Howard, and Kevin Hirthler – each picked up a $100 bonus courtesy of Harry & George Turner of GT Radiator. Modified B-Main was won by Doug Manmiller.

The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series returns on Tuesday, August 3 with the Ken Brenn Midget Masters featuring the NOS Energy Drink USAC National Midget Tour and the NASCAR 358 Modifieds.

Big Game Motorsports Driver Gravel Scores Win and Three Podiums During THE SHOWDOWN

Inside Line Promotions - JACKSON, Minn. (June 29, 2021) - David Gravel posted one win, three podiums and four top 10s during five World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series races last week as part of THE SHOWDOWN.

"I thought we had a solid week," he said. "One win and three podiums out of five races is pretty good. Obviously you want to win the big money races on the final night, but we won the BillionAuto.com Huset's 50 opener and we had a strong run to finish off the AGCO Jackson Nationals."

The Big Game Motorsports driver highlighted the spectacle by earning his sixth World of Outlaws win of the season a week ago Monday during the BillionAuto.com Huset's 50 preliminary night at Huset's Speedway in Brandon, S.D.

Gravel qualified second quickest before winning a heat race, the dash and the main event.

"We hit on all eight cylinders every time we hit the track and had a good dash draw so that always helps," he said. "The track ended up taking rubber toward the end of the feature. Luckily I got back by Donny (Schatz). In traffic a car messed him up and we were able to capitalize. He's one of the best rubber racers ever. He's stolen a lot of people's wins in the rubber. There's a fine line of where to run on the track when it takes rubber. If you're a little too high or a little too low it could cost you."

Gravel wrapped up the event on Tuesday by qualifying ninth quickest and advancing from fifth to fourth place in a heat race and from 13 th to ninth in the A Main.

"We stubbed our toe qualifying," he said. "We were able to gain one spot in the heat race to start a little further up toward the front in the feature. We were pretty decent in the feature. It was around the top real fast and everything leveled out. We ended up with a top 10 and that's about all we could do with how we qualified."

Action shifted to Jackson Motorplex on Thursday for the first of three nights of AGCO Jackson Nationals competition. Gravel timed in 15 th quickest, but a run from fifth to second place in a heat race garnered a spot into the dash. He won the dash to start the feature on the pole.

"We were a little concerned by not qualifying that good, but with the format we were able to save ourselves and get into the dash by going fifth to second in the heat race," he said. "We had a good dash draw. We were decent in the feature. Logan (Schuchart) was really fast and Kerry (Madsen) found the top lane before anybody else did. I was about a corner too late. I was going to the top, but just didn't get there fast enough."

Gravel finished third for a good points night.

Friday's second preliminary round didn't work in Gravel's favor as he qualified eighth quickest and maneuvered from seventh to sixth place in a heat race and from 14th to 11th in the A Main.

"We qualified good for when we went out, but we just didn't really hit it after that," he said. "We weren't very good in the heat race. We threw something at it for the A Main since we were starting back. It wasn't any better. We tried some stuff since we weren't in an ideal situation and it didn't work out."

Gravel ranked sixth in event points following the two preliminary nights. That missed a lock-in spot into the King of the Hill event on Saturday, but Gravel made the most of his pole position in a qualifier to win and advance into the King of the Hill.

Gravel set the quickest time during the first two rounds before posting the third quickest time in the final round. That lined him up on the inside of the second row for the main event.

"I think it went well," he said. "We've seen them do four cars in a King of the Hill race and it usually isn't very good. Usually the front row moves on so basing it on time was good and it worked out well for us as we picked up a few positions."

Gravel quickly powered into the lead once the green flag was waved on the A Main and he held onto the top spot for the first seven laps. A caution on Lap 8 bunched the field together. A slight stumble cost Gravel the lead and he ran second for the remainder of the prestigious race.

"I felt good in the qualifier and in the King of the Hill," he said. "We moved onto the A Main and I thought we had a pretty good car. I wish I got a better restart on Lap 8, but Logan had a more dominant car in traffic. He was very maneuverable. We stalled out behind a couple of cars in traffic where he kept chugging along. You never know what would have happened, but in all reality with how good his car was the result would have probably been the same even without our stumble."

The Independence Day Spectacular runs this Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., for Gravel and the team.

Dover Makes Two World of Outlaws A Main Starts During AGCO Jackson Nationals

Inside Line Promotions - JACKSON, Minn. (June 29, 2021) - Jack Dover was one of only a handful of drivers to complete the entire six races in eight nights during THE SHOWDOWN.

Dover highlighted a trio of nights at Huset's Speedway in Brandon, S.D., with an 11th-place run. He also made a pair of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series main events at Jackson Motorplex during the 43rd annual AGCO Jackson Nationals last weekend.

"It's probably one of my busiest weeks I've ever done in my racing career," he said. "It was cool to experience that and live like the Outlaws do. It was a little tiring, but fun as well. Our goal was to make the features. We made three out of six so that's not bad."

Dover, who was driving for Rick and Chris Bowers, qualified fourth quickest, placed third in a heat race and ended 11th at Huset's Speedway on June 20. Qualifying hampered him the ensuing two nights during the inaugural BillionAuto.com Huset's 50.

"I thought we had a good shot at making the features there and we only made Sunday night so we weren't really pleased with how we did there," he said. "We've done well in qualifying with the weekly stuff. Our last time we were 10.8 seconds in qualifying, but we couldn't get better than an 11.0 with the World of Outlaws. We didn't qualify as well as we thought we would and then obviously when the Outlaws are there you have to be on top of your game."

Last weekend showcased progress at Jackson Motorplex, where Dover timed in eighth quickest on Thursday before a mechanical problem in a heat race stymied him for the remainder of the night. A heat race win garnered a spot into the dash on Friday. Dover finished the feature 21st for his first World of Outlaws A Main start of the season.

The event concluded on Sunday with Dover transferring through the B Main to lock into the AGCO Jackson Nationals main event. He placed 21st for the second straight race.

"We were trying different things every time we went on the track," he said. "The final night I felt a lot more comfortable in the car. The results might not show that, but the final night was the best as far as the car rotating and handling.

"We weren't sure how the motor would run because we've been racing on shorter tracks all year. That was part of the learning curve. To come out of there making two A Mains was good."

Dover will pilot his No. 53 this Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., and Saturday at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, S.D., with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series.

Wilson Charges to Fourth-Place Finish to Capitalize on New Opportunity

Inside Line Promotions - NEW VERNON, Ind. (June 29, 2021) - Greg Wilson earned his ninth top-five finish of the season last Saturday during his season debut behind the wheel of the Joe and Diane Seeling owned No. 97.

Following a trying 39th annual Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Hercules Tires for Wilson and his Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics and DNC Hydraulics backed team, Wilson relished the opportunity to drive for Seeling for the first time in more than a decade.

The team headed to Twin Cities Raceway Park for a FAST on Dirt Winged 410 Sprint Cars event.

"We had a couple of scheduled weeks off with the No. w20 car to regroup to be ready for the 'Month of Money,'" Wilson said. "I want to say thank you to the Seeling Family for the opportunity to drive their car as well as to Andy Potter for wrenching on it.

"It was so much different for me. We rode over in a vehicle with my wife driving. Me and the girls got to chill out. For the last 15 years I've ran my own race team so it was nice to not have as much on my plate. I was excited because I felt like it was an opportunity for me to just be a race car driver instead of having to wear all of the hats."

Wilson qualified second quickest in his group to kick off his first winged sprint car race at the track. A fourth-place finish in a heat race lined him up on the outside of the sixth row for the main event.

"They have different race cars and a different motor program than I have," he said. "As soon as we hot lapped, Andy had the car good from the get-go.

"It was a lot of fun for me to go up and be able to watch the race track and pay attention to where all the classes were running and changing lanes. The unfortunate side was the track raced narrow and it was hard to pass. You had to be pretty technical and to be honest I thought I forgot how to do that. When the race started I got by four cars right away and then picked cars off one by one, but it'd take you a little bit. You had to pick your spots to pass wisely. We got a couple of spots on restarts."

Wilson maneuvered to a fourth-place finish.

The next planned race for Wilson is Saturday at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, during the Jack Hewitt and Bob Hampshire Classic with the FAST on Dirt Winged 410 Sprint Cars. He will return to the Seeling No. 97 sprint car this week.

"It's going to be kind of flexible this week," he said. "Possibly Circle City on Thursday and somewhere on Friday and then Waynesfield for sure on Saturday."

JUSTIN PECK TRIUMPHANT IN DRYDENE 30- SCORES TWO CAREER FIRSTS IN $7,000 WIN

UPCOMING SCHEDULE:

Saturday, July 3 (5:00 p.m.) Monster Freedom Fest: Monster Trucks & Central PA Legends

Saturday, July 10 (7:30 p.m.) DEAN’S AUTO PLAZA NIGHT: 410 Sprints ($5,000 to win), 358 Sprints ($2,000) and Classic Cars

Saturday, July 17 (7:30 p.m.) PEPSI NIGHT: 410 Sprints, 358 Sprints and ARDC Midgets

Abbottstown, PA (June 28, 2021) – Justin Peck scored two career firsts on Saturday in the $7,000 to win Drydene 30. Peck’s win was his first at Lincoln and his first during PA Speedweek. “I love coming here to Lincoln Speedway. It’s one of my favorite tracks in Pennsylvania.”

Peck started on the outside of the front row and took the lead coming out of turn 2, “As soon as I took off I knew we were pretty good.”

With track conditions changing throughout the night, Peck played his cards right to make it to the end of the 30-lap feature, “I was just trying to conserve it a little bit. Getting a curb up on the fence you can’t just go flat out for 30 laps.”

Gerard McIntyre drew the pole in Monday night’s redraw and Indiana invader Justin Peck lined up second.

McIntyre and Peck raced wheel to wheel into turn 1 when the green flag waved. Peck used the top line and had the advantage as they raced out of turn two.

Robbie Kendall was holding off the two NASCAR drivers in the field, Christopher Bell and Kyle Larson. Larson got by Bell for fifth on lap 4.

Kendall slid Ryan Smith for third and took the spot on lap 7. Larson followed to the outside of Smith and took the spot going into turn 3.

Peck caught lapped traffic on lap 8.

Bell tried a slider on Larson but lost a spot to Smith in the process. Bell got back by Smith in turns 1 and 2 to reclaim fifth on lap 11.

Kendall, Larson and Bell started closing in on McIntyre as they worked through lapped traffic.

Kendall was all over McIntyre trying to make the pass for second. Lap 15 saw Kendall and McIntyre make contact in turn 1. McIntyre did a full 360 spin and fell back to sixth and Kendall kept going and was running second.

The yellow flag came out on lap 17 when Freddie Rahmer fell off the pace.

Peck led Kendall, Larson, Bell and Buddy Kofoid to the cone for the restart.

Kendall looked to the inside of Peck and the two raced side by side out of turn 2 but could not make the pass. Kendall was within striking distance of Peck and Larson was running in third.

Larson was riding the top line to try and reel in Kendall. Larson dove under Kendall going into turn 3 with 9 laps to go and it didn’t stick. That move started a fierce battle for second between Kendall and Larson.

Larson was getting a great run off of turn 4 but Kendall got through 1 and 2 better.

Chase Dietz and McIntyre got together in the top of turn 2 on lap 23 to bring out the caution. Larson had made the pass on Kendall for second but the caution came out before they crossed the line.

The current Speedweek points leader, Brent Marks headed to the pits under the caution to change a flat tire.

Peck paced the field ahead of Kendall, Larson, Bell and Kofoid for the restart.

Peck and Larson went to the top with Kendall opting for the bottom.

Larson slid in front of Kendall going into turn 1 but with Kendall getting a better off of turn 2 he took the spot back.

Brandon Rahmer brought out the red flag on lap 26 when he flipped on the front stretch coming out of turn 4.

With four laps to go the top five for the restart were Peck, Kendall, Larson, Bell and Danny Dietrich.

Kendall looked to the inside of Peck on the restart with Larson sitting right behind them.

Dietrich was working on Bell for fourth. Dietrich slid Bell for the spot to take it at the white flag. Kendall looked to the bottom one last time but didn’t have enough to get by Peck.

Peck got to the checkered flag .797 seconds ahead of Kendall. Larson crossed the line third and Dietrich was fourth. Bell completed the top five.

Heat race wins went to Gerard McIntyre, Ryan Smith, Buddy Kofoid and Christopher Bell. Lucas Wolfe set quick time over the 40-car field with a lap time of 13.974.

This Saturday, July 3, Lincoln Speedway is hosting the Monster Freedom Fest with Monster Trucks and the Central PA Legends. Racing starts at 7:00PM with gates opening at 1:30PM.

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 28, 2021) – The “Madman” Kerry Madsen has been on a tear aboard the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing No. 14 sprint car, not only keeping the seat warm for three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and NASCAR Hall of Famer, Tony Stewart, but doing so in an incredible manner, most recently capturing five consecutive top-ten finishes during action across the upper-Midwest, scoring a pair of $10,000 victories in the process, all of which accomplished during World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competition.

Madsen, driver of the Rush Truck Centers/Advance Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Digital Ally/Sage Fruit/FloRacing/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Mobil 1/Carquest Auto Parts/J&J Auto Racing/No. 14 sprint car, joined the Greatest Show On Dirt during visits to Huset’s Speedway and Jackson Motorplex over the last seven days, entering The Showdown which featured the $30,000-to-win Huset’s 50 and the $50,000-to-win Jackson Nationals.

After kicking-off the week-long venture with third and eighth-place finishes during Huset’s 50 action on Monday and Tuesday, June 21-22 – the eighth-place score occurring during the $30,000 finale – Madsen and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing turned their attention to the Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota, where the three-day Jackson Nationals commenced on Thursday, June 24. Wasting little time becoming acclimated with the state-of-the-art venue, Madsen was quick right out of the gate and opened the event with an impressive 13-spot rally to win on Thursday. Head turning, nonetheless, Madsen climbed from 14th to second in just seven laps, eventually stealing the lead from Logan Schuchart with a turn four slider with four circuits remaining.

The end result was the same for Madsen on Friday, this time charging ahead from sixth to win his second $10,000 prize in 24 hours, doing so with a move around Carson Macedo on lap 13. In an attempt to spoil Madsen’s hard-fought momentum, Mother Nature did her best to crash the $50,000-to-win Jackson finale, but action was ultimately moved to Sunday.

Capping his week of success, Madsen finished fourth in the 35-lap Jackson Nationals blockbuster, fading slightly after starting second on the main event grid. Logan Schuchart was the victor, followed by David Gravel, Brad Sweet, and Madsen.

“This car is just unbelievable,” Kerry Madsen expressed in an interview at Jackson, a 27-time World of Outlaws winner over his career. “The Ford power plant is so good. It’s so much fun to drive. Ricky [Warner] had this thing on rails. I committed to the top and just never lifted.”

An upcoming schedule for Kerry Madsen and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing has yet to be determined. Fans are encouraged to keep alert online, as well as on social media, for continuing updates regarding Madsen’s Tony Stewart Racing schedule.

2021 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Sixth | 5120 points [202 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet]

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 28, 2021) – Despite mechanical issues leading to an early retirement during the $50,000-to-win Jackson Nationals finale at Jackson Motorplex on Sunday, June 27, ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, opened his recent five-race campaign across the upper-Midwest with championship-worthy results, cashing in for a pair of podiums during Huset’s Speedway’s Huset’s 50 doubleheader on Monday and Tuesday, June 21-22.

After opening Huset’s 50 competition with a runner-up finish during preliminary action on Monday, leading the first nine circuits before giving up the top spot to fellow World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship contender, David Gravel, Schatz returned to the Huset’s highbanks on Tuesday and nearly trumped his runner-up result, only to be outdueled by Brad Sweet and eventual winner, Aaron Reutzel.

Firmly in second with just ten circuits remaining, Schatz did his best to get a run on the World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year contender, but Reutzel prevailed, outsprinting the Fargo, North Dakota-native to the finish; Brad Sweet snuck by Schatz with seven circuits remaining.

Donny Schatz and the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Carquest Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Sage Fruit/Digital Ally/Advance Auto Parts/Rush Truck Centers/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car team continued their stretch through the upper-Midwest with the three-day Jackson Nationals at Jackson Motorplex on June 24-26.

Although compelled to settle with a spot outside of the top-ten, Schatz’ most impressive performance of the week occurred during the three-day Jackson Nationals opener when the ten-time Series champ rallied from 23rd to finish 11th in the A-Main, all after finishing third from dead last in the Last Chance Showdown. The team was forced to start last after they resorted to a back up car following a heat race crash.

The following evening, Schatz rallied from 15th to finish 12th, eventually closing out the weekend with the aforementioned “DNF” during the $50,000 Jackson Nationals finale.

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2021 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a two-day stay at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin.

Dubbed the Independence Day Spectacular, the two-day visit to Cedar Lake Speedway on Friday and Saturday, July 2-3, will not only award a pair of $10,000 top prizes, but it will activate a big money month for the Greatest Show On Dirt that includes Attica’s Brad Doty Classic, a pair of $175,000-to-win Kings Royals at Eldora Speedway, the $25,000-to-win Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway, and the annual Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway awarding $20,000.

Zearfoss to kick start hefty July schedule with Independence Day Spectacular at Cedar Lake

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

JONESTOWN, Pa. (June 28, 2021) – The month of June was not too kind to Brock Zearfoss and Brock Zearfoss Racing, but despite the bad luck and periods of frustration, the 2021 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year contender will keep his head held high and aim to jump start the month of July in a big way during Cedar Lake Speedway’s upcoming doubleheader.

Brock Zearfoss will enter his July stretch with nine World of Outlaws top-ten finishes to his credit, the most recent at Beaver Dam Raceway where the “Jonestown Jet” finished tenth; Zearfoss is currently tenth in the World of Outlaws driver championship.

“It can be tough on you, but if running the Outlaws schedule was easy, a lot more teams would do it. I’m proud of what we are doing and I know what our potential is,” Brock Zearfoss said, driver of the Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill, Heavy Equipment, Loaders & Parts Inc., C&D Rigging Inc., Meckley’s Limestone Products, Berkebile Oil Company, Klick Lewis Cars, J.P. Adamsky Trucking, X-1 Race Cars, No. 3Z sprint car. “We just need to find some rhythm. We’ve had a lot of speed, but everytime we feel like we catch a break, bad luck strikes. We’ll shake it off and keep moving forward. That’s all you can do.”

Recent highlights for Zearfoss and Brock Zearfoss Racing include qualifying for the $50,000-to-win Jackson Nationals finale at Jackson Motorplex on Sunday, June 27; Zearfoss finished 20th after starting in the exact same position.

The Jonestown, Pennsylvania-native was well on his way to a top-ten performance during Jackson Nationals preliminary action on Thursday, June 24, but a cut tire decided otherwise.

BUY TICKETS HERE

Here are some of the top storylines to follow:

TURNING THE PAGE: On the heels of the busiest stretch of the season (8 races in 11 days), the Greatest Show on Dirt now prepares for the busiest month of the season. A loaded July features 13 races at eight different tracks in four states. Included in that stretch is a run of five races in five nights, highlighted by a historic happening with not one, but TWO Kings Royal Features paying $175,000-to-win each.

All told, July offers four events in the fabled "Month of Money" and they all run consecutively across a week and a half. There's $175,000-to-win on Thursday, July 15 at Eldora, then another $175,000 up for grabs on Saturday, July 17, then a mid-week $25,000 check awaits the Silver Cup winner on Tuesday, July 20, and another $20,000 is paid out at Williams Grove onSaturday, July 24.

Fri-Sat, July 2-3 at Cedar Lake (WI) Speedway
Sat, July 10 at Wilmot (WI) Raceway
Tues, July 13 at Attica (OH) Raceway Park
Wed-Sat, July 14-17 at Eldora (OH) Speedway
Tues, July 20 at Lernerville (PA) Speedway
Fri-Sat, July 23-24 at Williams Grove (PA) Speedway
Fri, July 30 at Ransomville (NY) Speedway
Sat, July 31 at Weedsport (NY) Speedway
CHOMPIN' CHECKS: $50,000 yields not only a big bank deposit, but loads of momentum and confidence as well. After their second-straight Jackson Nationals title, Logan Schuchart and the Shark Racing #1S will walk into Cedar Lake Speedway with an extra pep in their step this weekend.

The Hanover, PA native has previously won at the Wisconsin oval in 2016. He's chasing his 27th career World of Outlaws win, the fourth of his 2021 season aboard the Drydene Performance Products sponsored machine.

ON FIRE: On May 7 at Eldora Speedway, Kerry Madsen took the wheel of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing #14 for the first time. Ever since then, he's been the hottest Sprint Car driver in the world. This weekend, he returns to one of his best tracks at Cedar Lake, too.

"The Mad Man" has contested 14 World of Outlaws events aboard the Advanced Auto Parts #14 and has only finished outside the top-10 ONCE in his second race. His average finish is a whopping 4.6 over that stretch, and he's racked up six podiums in the last nine races. Last weekend, he finally broke through for his first Outlaws win aboard the #14 and promptly followed that with another trip to victory lane the next night at Jackson Motorplex.

This weekend, Madsen returns to Cedar Lake Speedway, where he's won thrice before with The Greatest Show on Dirt.

KNOWING WHAT IT TAKES: Four full-time competitors have previously won with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Cedar Lake Speedway. Leading the way among that group is 10-time Series champion Donny Schatz, who has triumphed on five occasions at the track, only two shy of Sammy Swindell's record of seven wins.

Lately, it's been The Big Cat's playground. Brad Sweet has topped four of the last six races at Cedar Lake with a chance to extend that record this coming weekend. Other former winners at the 3/8-mile oval are Sheldon Haudenschild and Logan Schuchart

NEW TO NEW RICHMOND: Two of Sweet's biggest championship challengers will look to end their cold spell when visiting Cedar Lake Speedway this weekend. David Gravel and Carson Macedo, who run second and third in the points, are both chasing their first career World of Outlaws win at the track.

ROOKIE RACE: It's been 32 races since James McFadden of Alice Springs, NT, AUS made his way to the United States and began his rookie campaign with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. After missing the opening six races, J-Mac has made the most of his time since climbing aboard the Kasey Kahne Racing, Karavan Trailers #9 in a full-time capacity. This week, McFadden moved into eighth-place in the championship standings, only one spot and 296 points behind fellow rookie, Aaron Reutzel.

Although points are not the deciding factor in who wins the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, they certainly still hold merit. If you measure the standings since March 19 when McFadden made his first start, he's actually ahead of the Roth Motorsports #83. Over that span, J-Mac has outscored A-Aron by 46 points.

The win column is worth looking at just as much, though. McFadden's lone victory was at Kokomo (IN) Speedway in April, while Reutzel has claimed three wins including a spectacular drive at East Bay (FL) Raceway Park, a $15,000 pouncing on the Posse at Williams Grove (PA) Speedway, and a $30,000 score last week at Huset's (SD) Speedway.

HALFWAY HOME: This weekend's doubleheader at Cedar Lake will bring the 2021 season to 40 completed events of a scheduled 81 in total. The championship standings remain relatively unchanged following a big week with five races as part of THE SHOWDOWN.

Brad Sweet, who pursues his third-consecutive World of Outlaws championship, has held the top spot in points since March 19. His Kasey Kahne Racing, NAPA Auto Parts #49 leads the Series in Feature Wins (10), Laps Led (213), Podium Finishes (17), Top-Fives (24), and Average Finish (5.24).

Immediately behind Sweet is David Gravel (-60) who has six wins in his first season with the Big Game Motorsports #2 crew. The next group of challengers includes Carson Macedo (-120) with three wins for Jason Johnson Racing, Sheldon Haudenschild (-172) with three wins as well in the NOS Energy Drink #17, Logan Schuchart (-190) fresh off a $50,000 victory last weekend, and Donny Schatz (-202) who earned his 300th career win last week.

Sides Returns to Busy Schedule After Being Out of World of Outlaws Action for Seven Weeks

Inside Line Promotions - JACKSON, Minn. (June 28, 2021) - Jason Sides missed nearly seven weeks of action from the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series trail after his racing trailer was damaged during a freeway accident.

Sides and his team repaired the trailer at their shop in Tennessee before rejoining 'The Greatest Show on Dirt' during one of the busiest stretches of the season.

Sides returned on June 17 and competed in seven races during the last 11 days.

"It took me a bit to get back going," he said. "Being off for a couple of months, it felt like Volusia starting the season back over again."

Sides' best run during the recent stretch was a season-best seventh-place showing on Friday night during the second preliminary night of the AGCO Jackson Nationals hosted by Jackson Motorplex.

"I banged the wall going down the front straightaway, which really screwed me up into turn one and I jumped the cushion," he said. "A couple of cars got by me and we fell to ninth. Toward the end I got back going. I slowed down a few laps after getting into the wall trying to figure out if anything was hurt on the car. Once I felt everything was okay we gained a couple of positions back to finish seventh."

The top 10 combined with a 20th-place result during Thursday's event opener put Sides in a good position entering Saturday's finale. The event was postponed one day because of wet weather and Sides finished where he started in both a qualifier - third - and the main event - 13 th - on Sunday.

"If I got off the bottom I got tight from the middle of the track to the cushion," he said. "We got a few spots and lost a few spots."

Henderson and Sandvig Fight Misfortune During 43rd Annual AGCO Jackson Nationals Finale

Inside Line Promotions - JACKSON, Minn. (June 28, 2021) - Justin Henderson recorded top-20 finishes during the first two nights of the 43rd annual AGCO Jackson Nationals before he and the Mike Sandvig No. 7 were caught up in misfortune during the finale of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series crown jewel event at Jackson Motorplex.

"We were good at different times, but it just seems like we were really needing to come from behind most the weekend," Henderson said. "Obviously we wanted better results with the Outlaws in town and a lot of money on the line, but I definitely think they knew we were there in terms of presence and having a car capable of contending with those guys."

Henderson kicked off the three-race stretch on Thursday when he began the night by timing in 21st quickest out of 36 drivers in attendance with a lap of 13.248 seconds. He finished fourth in a heat race to lock directly into the preliminary night A Main. Henderson ended where he started - 19th.

"We were not very good at all on Thursday and the fact that we even made the A Main was a miracle," he said. "But we found that we needed to make a bar change and salvaged a tough night by at least learning something for the future."

Henderson started Friday night with a lap of 13.300 seconds, which was good enough for 26th quickest out of 34 drivers. He then finished where he started - second - in a heat race and earned the 11th starting spot for the feature. Henderson settled into the 11th position early in the feature before dropping as low as 20th by the halfway mark. However, he was able to pass several cars during the second half of the event to finish 16th for his 23rd top-20 result of the year.

"We were pretty good on Night 2, but we got shuffled back on the start and from there we had no choice but to be really up on the wheel," he said. "We were just a victim of circumstance and from there we were playing catch-up."

Henderson sat 16th in points earned from both preliminary events and as a result had to run a qualifier to get into the A Main during the finale. Rain postponed the event on Saturday and once racing got underway on Sunday, Henderson finished where he started - fourth - to lock into the feature in the 16th starting spot.

Henderson quickly dispatched of two cars at the drop of the green flag to move into the 14th position. However, two drivers got together in turn three and he had nowhere to go. Contact with a car caused right rear damage. The team attempted to change the right rear tire to return to competition, but deemed the damage too substantial to return. Henderson was credited with finishing 23rd as a result.

"We had one heck of start and I felt like we were going to really be able to go forward and have a shot at contending," Henderson said. "But as quick as we got going our night ended. It was just pure bad luck and I feel awful for our guys. I tried my hardest to miss them, but it was just a wrong place at the wrong time type of deal."

Next up for Henderson and Sandvig will be a return to familiarity for a regular weekly show at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday. Henderson enters the weekend fourth in the points standings and he trails second by only 32 markers.

"I still feel like we have a good shot at getting the points deal at Knoxville and that's what we'll keep working for," he said. "I felt like if not for the wreck in Jackson we had a top-10 car against the best drivers in the world. We're getting to a point where we have a consistent car each night out and I'm looking forward to translating that into success at Knoxville hopefully."

Starks Captures Career-Best Second-Place Finish During Dirt Cup

Inside Line Promotions - ALGER, Wash. (June 28, 2021) - Trey Starks produced a pair of podiums at the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup, including a runner-up result during the finale of the prestigious Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event hosted by Skagit Speedway.

"It was definitely our best Dirt Cup and it's the smoothest Dirt Cup we've ever had," he said. "Usually on a prelim night we have something go sideways. We didn't really have that this year.

"We stayed out of trouble, moved forward and took what we could. I was really happy with everything. It came together and we had some good luck - or at least not bad luck - so we were able to capitalize on the speed we've had the last couple of weeks."

The three-day event began on Thursday with Starks advancing from sixth to second place in a heat race and from sixth to fourth place in a qualifier. He ranked third in overall points out of the 40-plus competitors, which started him on the inside of the second row for the A Main.

"It was a caution-filled main event," he said. "Every time we got going we'd get stopped. About the 10th lap we got into the wall and knocked the Jacob's Ladder out. After that I was riding around trying to salvage. I think we were good enough to contend for the win, but with the cautions breaking everything up and knocking the Jacob's Ladder out of it we couldn't move forward. However, it's all about building points the first two days so all things considered it was a good night."

Starks' third-place finish tied his season-best outing at the track.

Night 2 of the event featured a sixth-place finish in both a heat race and a qualifier. Starks came alive in a B Main, winning it from fifth before maneuvering from 18th to 10th in the main event.

"We had a really good car in the B Main," he said. "We got off to a slow start, but the last 10 laps or so we started moving forward and picking off spots. We got the win on the last corner by about a nose. I usually wouldn't try to be too aggressive in the B Main, but I knew we had a good car and every spot in the B Main is another row you move forward in the feature.

"I moved my way through the field as fast as I could, but as cautiously as I could. A DNF wasn't going to do us any favors. We were into eighth toward the end. I was hanging it out on the top while everybody was moving to the bottom. We picked up a couple of spots, but I got hung out at the wrong time and moved down a lap too late and got shuffled back to 10th . It was still a good top 10 and set us up well in points."

Starks ranked sixth in preliminary points to garner the sixth starting position for Saturday's finale.

"We had a decent start and got into fifth right away," he said. "We battled between fifth and sixth for the first 10 or 15 laps. We had a longer run through the middle of the race and picked up a couple of spots. We were running fourth and just as I started to get close to Justin Sanders for third in traffic we had a caution that took the leader out. That put us to third. We had six or seven cars between the leader and us and Sanders running second. I knew it was going to be tricky and I wasn't sure if we'd get a shot at the lead. On the restart Sanders got into a lapped car and that opened the door up for us to sneak by into second. We had a real late caution that put us on the back bumper of Dominic (Scelzi). I knew we had a good car, but so did he. I tried to go to the bottom to make something happen because I knew he'd be on the top. I didn't get a good run off turn two, which let (Matt) Covington get by us briefly. I ran a pretty hard final lap and we snuck by for second coming to the checkered."

Starks' second-place showing marked his second straight ASCS National Tour event with a career-best result. He also placed second on June 20 during the Fred Brownfield Classic at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash.

Next up for Starks will be a two-day Western Sprint Tour Speedweek event on July 16-17 at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Ore.

BRENT MARKS MAKES IT TWO STRAIGHT WITH PA SPEEDWEEK WIN AT BAPS

YORK HAVEN, PA -  It seems Brent Marks has a good handle on being a more consistent contender for wins, especially at BAPS Motor Speedway.

Marks captured the May 2 Kevin Gobrecht Classic, which made him one of the favorites coming into Sunday’s Pennsylvania Speedweek event, the first in 15 years at the speedway. And he didn’t disappoint.

The Myerstown, Pa., ace made it look easy against some stiff competition. He started on the pole and went unchallenged in leading all 30 Laps to capture Round 3 of Pennsylvania Speedweek at BAPS Motor Speedway.

“It’s really awesome and really special to do what we are doing right now, especially in my own car,” Marks said. “It’s a very unreal moment, and I’m really happy with the way things are going.

“We have that consistency thing going that I’ve been working so hard to get. I just have to keep it up, so we will keep working hard and try to get better.”

Continued Marks, “I thought we were really good all race long, but there were times I thought we were off a little and areas we still need to work on. It’s just a very special moment for me and my family.”

T.J. Stutts didn’t make it easy at the start. He fought Marks going into Turn 1, and the two raced side-by-side through the second corner. Marks pulled ahead of the backstretch and led the first circuit.

Marks wasted little time opening up a sizable 2.161-second lead by the time Lap 5 was scored. Meanwhile, Stutts had to deal with Justin Peck, who started fourth on the grid. Two laps later, Peck took the position with a slider through the first and second corner.

Lapped traffic became an issue on Lap 10. And yet, Marks was able to negotiate it with ease and still maintain his lead.

The daring move came on Lap 12, when Marks split the backmarkers of Skylar Gee and Chase Dietz heading into Turn 3. It allowed Marks to up his advantage to 2.5 seconds over the rest of the field.

“The moves I’m making seem to be working for me,” Marks said. “I’m just out there wheeling this thing and trying to be as aggressive as I can and make those moves as quick as I can, especially when you are the leader.

“The guy who is second is always in prime position when you are in lapped traffic. I just know that when I have a run on somebody, I’ve got to make that move as soon as possible. It just seems to be working out for me.”

Ryan Smith entered the picture on Lap 14, when he surged past Stutts to take third. One lap later, Devon Borden blew a tire going down the frontstretch and needed a tow back to the pit area. He was able to rejoin the field.

The restart was anticlimactic. Peck ripped around the top of Turns 1 and 2, but he couldn’t overtake Marks, who opened up a 1.592 second lead within five laps.

Marks was on cruise control around the top the rest of the way and earned his second straight victory.

As for Peck, he blew a tire in the fourth corner and fell to 11th. Ryan Smith drove by to get second, with Sam Hafertepe Jr. taking third.  J.J. Grasso and Anthony Macri completed the top five.

“We were good, Ryan Smith said. “We probably could have been a little tighter, but all and all, I could run the top, through the middle on the restart, and the bottom was coming in at the end. We were just a second or third-place car. To be on the podium here after two top 20s, it’s a good momentum builder.”

Kenny Edkin topped the field in a caution-filled 25-Lap Super Sportsman feature. It was his fourth straight win at the speedway.

John Edkin led the first six circuits before Kenny Edkin blew by to take the lead. There was no touching the leader the rest of the way, and he earned his 27th-career victory at BAPS Motor Speedway.

At the finish, it was John Edkin in second. Tyler Wolford, Scott Dellinger, and Matt Ondek completed the top five. Frankie Herr finished seventh and won Hard Charger honors.
