ST. HELENA, Calif. (July 26, 2021) – It was a special weekend for Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing, not only earning three top-ten finishes during Kings Royal competition at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track, but the St. Helena, California-native had the privilege of witnessing his lifelong racing hero, and Rico Abreu Racing teammate, Jac Haudenschild start on the front row for his final Kings Royal appearance.

Aboard the iconic No. 22, resurrected specifically for his 2021 Farewell Tour, Haudenschild earned his front row starting position in Eldora’s 37th Kings Royal by way of heat race victory, scoring a win in heat race five to solidify the outside-pole. The “Wild Child” went on to finish 14th in the $175,000-to-win main event; it was Haudenchild’s only Kings Royal A-Main start of the double Kings Royal weekend.

Abreu, pilot of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Rowdy Energy/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Self Made/Salty’s BBQ/No. 24 sprint car, qualified for each of the $175,000-to-win Kings Royals contested on Saturday, July 17, as well as the Jokers Wild preliminary main event that was contested on Wednesday, July 14, and the Knight Before The Kings Royal preliminary that was contested on Sunday, July 18. The former Eldora Speedway All Star Circuit of Champions winner highlighted the entire weekend with an eighth-place rally during the first of two Kings Royal A-Mains on Saturday, advancing from 16th to secure eighth at the line. Although missing the top-ten, Abreu finished 17th in the second $175,000-to-win Kings Royal later that evening.

Abreu finished seventh during the Jokers Wild main event on Wednesday, a product of row seven, and sixth during the Knight Before The Kings Royal A-Main on Sunday.

“It was a long and crazy weekend, but we wouldn’t want it any other way. To see Jac make the A-Main on Saturday evening is really, really special. He’s my racing hero and it was great to share his last Kings Royal with him,” Rico Abreu said, who owns 36 top-ten finishes in 58 attempts thus far in 2021. “Hats off to my entire team for making the Kings Royal weekend a success for everyone. I think we were aiming for some better results, but overall, it was a great experience and that’s the number one priority. We love Eldora; the fans, the atmosphere…everything about it is second to none. I’m ready to get back.”

Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will continue their 2021 campaign with a trio of All Star Circuit of Champions starts across Missouri and Iowa. Abreu will follow the All Star campaign trail to Missouri State Fair Speedway on Thursday, July 29, followed by stops at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, on Friday, July 30, and Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, July 31.
