Mechanicsburg - Williams Grove Speedway will celebrate the career of three-time track champion Todd Shaffer of Millerstown coming up this Friday, September 3 at 7:30 pm when VP Racing Fuels presents the Todd Shaffer Tribute Race for Lawrence Chevrolet 410 Sprint Cars.

The special race run in honor of “Mr. Excitement,” Todd Shaffer, will pay $6,088 to win as part of the 2021 Diamond Series at the track.

In addition, up for grabs in the sprint car feature will be the “Mr. Excitement Hard Charger Award,” paying $350 as sponsored by Shaffer’s pit crew members from throughout his career.

VP Racing Fuels will present each Friday sprint car winner a VP Racing Fuels fuel jug and a $50 gift certificate for VP Fuels.

During his long and exciting career in sprint cars that began in 1986, Shaffer recorded a total of 38 sprint car victories at the track, placing him just inside the top 10 on the all-time oval career win list.

His track championships, all for car owners Gary and Patty Beam of Gardners, came in 1995, 2007 and in 2009.

To celebrate Shaffer’s career at the track, a Beam Team reunion of sorts including car owner Patty Beam will be held in the speedway infield from 5:45 – 6:45 pm on race night.

The pre-race action will include a live Facebook broadcast on Beer Hill Gang TV that will be simulcast on the speedway public address system.

Taking part in the pre-race will be crew members, mechanics and spnosors from the Shaffer/Beam team over the years along with additional Shaffer car owners Jim and Laura Allebach and the son of late car owner Al Hamilton, Mr. Tim Hamilton.

Good friends Fred Rahmer and Lance Dewease are also expected to be a part of the celebration.

The 358 sprint cars will also be on the September 3 holiday weekend program along with fireworks.

Derek Locke is the only driver to win in 358 action at the oval this season having scored all six shows run to date.

Locke has quite simply “Locked – Up” the 2021 track point title for the division.

Meanwhile, Lance Dewease is poised to put on his final run to a seventh track title in the 410 sprints division during September.

A seventh track title would be his first since 2011.

Adult general admission for September 3 is $20 with youth ages 13 – 20 admitted for $10.

Kids ages 12 and under are always admitted for FREE at Williams Grove Speedway.
