BROWNSBURG, Ind. (October 11, 2021) – Consistency is a word very much associated with Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, and that is exactly what the team accomplished in Port Royal Speedway’s Nittany Showdown. Schatz, a ten-time Series champion and three-time main event winner thus far in 2021, finished fourth and third, respectively, in the two-day Port Royal invasion, actually challenging for a victory to open the weekend before capping his visit with a hard charge on Saturday.

Although not victorious on Friday, Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing and the No. 15/Carquest Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Sage Fruit/Digital Ally/Advance Auto Parts/Rush Truck Centers/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, was in a winning position, pressuring TSR teammate, Kerry Madsen, persistently after a lap 15 restart. In fact, the Fargo, North Dakota-native took command from Madsen twice, but each time Madsen was able to turn the car back underneath Schatz. Schatz would eventually fade the fourth.

The following evening, Schatz put on an impressive display to earn the evening’s Hard Charger Award, ultimately climbing from 12th to finish third in the $15,000-to-win Nittany Showdown finale. Schatz secured his podium placement with just two laps remaining.

“Pretty solid finish,” said Schatz. “We made some improvements and learned a lot in the Feature. We changed engines after the Heat Race and that was a good call. This team keeps digging and we’re getting better.”

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will take a weekend off before resuming the 2021 season on Friday, October 22, with the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. Schatz will enter the one-day program fourth in the World of Outlaws driver standings, trailing defending champion and current point leader, Brad Sweet, by a certainly attainable 166 markers.
