Williams Grove Opener Is In Two Weeks

Mechanicsburg - Williams Grove Speedway is just two weeks away from the first green flag of its new racing season coming up Sunday, March 13 at 2 pm.

The 2022 lidlifter will include an open wheel doubleheader featuring the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars in a $5,500 to win main event.

Plus, the wingless super sportsman will be on the card for a first-ever show by the sportsman at the track without their top hat.

Presented by Hoosier, gates for the first event of the season will open at noon with warm ups slated for 1:30 pm.

Freddie Rahmer won a windswept season opener for the sprint cars last season. It was his first-ever opening day win at the track.

Rahmer wired the field for the victory.

Justin Peck nudged under Brandon Rahmer for second on the 16th tour and would end up .37 seconds behind at the finish on a tricky, windswept surface.

Adult general admission for the 2022 season opener is set at $20 with youth ages 13-20 admitted for just $10. Youth ages 12 and under are always admitted for FREE at Williams Grove Speedway.

The month of March will include two more races after the opener, coming up on March 18 and 25 as the track switches to traditional Friday night fare.

The ULMS Super Late Models will join the 410 sprint cars on both Friday cards slated for 7:30 pm.

Justin Whittall opens season with top-ten in Lincoln’s Icebreaker

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

VINCENTOWN, N.J. (February 28, 2022) – Justin Whittall and JW Motorsports opened their 2022 season in a big way, eventually nailing down a top-ten result in Lincoln Speedway’s season-opening Icebreaker 30 on Sunday afternoon, February 27.

In all, it was a productive day in the Pigeon Hills for the Vincentown, New Jersey, native, kicking things off with a runner-up result in the program’s first heat race, ultimately securing a fourth row starting position by way of feature redraw. The former Williams Grove Speedway winner would go on to finish ninth, maintaining his place within the top-ten after starting seventh.

Adding to the weekend headline, Whittall’s Icebreaker finish is the best Lincoln Speedway result of his young career, bettering a tenth-place score from a start nearly two seasons ago.

Over 30 cars made the call for yesterday’s Icebreaker.

“It feels good to get the season started like that. That’s a huge momentum kick for this team and that’s exactly what we needed. We’re not regular Lincoln visitors, so to go in there and knock off a top-ten in our first try says a ton,” Whittall explained, driver of the Kronenberger Fine Jewelry, Mid-Atlantic Transport, Pioneer Auto Body, Worldwide Bearings, Enterprise, No. 67 sprint car. “Our initial plan for next week is to test at Port Royal on Saturday then race their opener on Sunday. We may change that a bit and try again at Lincoln on Saturday instead. We’ll evaluate things this week and make a decision.”

Dietrich rallies for top-five in Lincoln’s season-opening Icebreaker

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (February 28, 2022) – Resulting in his first top-five finish of the year, and doing so in convincing fashion, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich helped kick-off the 2022 Pennsylvania open wheel season by joining some of the Posse’s finest, as well as a few not-so frequent Posse regulars, in Lincoln Speedway’s season-opening Icebreaker 30 on Sunday afternoon, February 27.

Certainly no stranger to the Pigeon Hills, the former Icebreaker champion would go on to finish fourth in the Pennsylvania lidlifter, rallying from the outside of row five to do so.

Activating the daylight program with a heat race victory, Dietrich’s fifth row starting position was the result of a feature redraw, eventually battling his way forward on a relatively wide and racey Lincoln surface.

Refusing to settle, “Double-D” did his best to outduel Anthony Macri for third, actually powering by the Macri Concrete No. 39M as the two-to-go signal was given. Macri would soon return the favor forcing Dietrich to settle for one spot off the podium.

“It felt good to get back to Lincoln. It’s tough to not be excited about racing in front of our Pennsylvania fans,” Danny Dietrich said, a one-time Lincoln Speedway winner in 2021 and driver of the Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made Racing, No. 48 sprint car. “Hats off to all of the track workers for getting this program in. It turned out to be a beautiful afternoon and I’m glad the track was able to take full advantage of that. We’ll be back next Saturday, so hopefully we can better ourselves by a few more positions and get that first win of the season.”

ON DECK:
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2022 campaign with their first Central Pennsylvania double of the season, returning to Lincoln Speedway on Saturday afternoon, March 5, before visiting Port Royal Speedway for its $5,000-to-win season opener on Sunday, March 6. FREDDIE RAHMER SCORES FIRST ICE BREAKER VICTORY

UPCOMING SCHEDULE:

Saturday, March 5, 2022 (3PM) 410 Sprints + Open Practice

Saturday, March 12, 2022 (3PM) 410 Sprints + Central PA Legends

Saturday, March 19, 2022 (6PM) 410 Sprints + 358 Sprints

Abbottstown, PA (February 27, 2022) – Fresh off his second consecutive track championship, Freddie Rahmer added yet another accomplishment to his already impressive resume on a brisk and sunny afternoon at Lincoln Speedway, winning his first ever season opener in the pigeon hills.

Sunday’s race was Rahmer’s first at Lincoln Speedway for new car owner Rich Eichelberger, “Rich and Nancy gave me the opportunity to drive this car and I’m going to run as hard as I can every lap.” A win is a great way to start the season, let alone with a new team, “I’m glad to get this out of the way with the start with Rich,” Rahmer shared in victory lane.

After making his way to the front of the field early in the race, lapped traffic and late race restarts allowed Brent Marks to close in on Rahmer, “I knew Marks was going to be tough because this is his kind of racetrack. I saw his shadow on the restart, so I knew on the third one I needed to change it up.” The top of the track came in later in the race and was the preferred line for the leaders. On the final restart with four laps to go Rahmer said, “I knew if I could beat him through 1 and 2, I knew he wasn’t going to beat me after that.”

On winning his first Ice Breaker at Lincoln Rahmer said, “We’re going to celebrate this one and stay focused and go onto the next one.”

Pole-sitter Jordan Givler and Aaron Bollinger shared the front row for the 30-lap season opener. Freddie Rahmer and Billy Dietrich made up row two.

Just as the green flag dropped and the front of the field was off and running, the yellow came out before they reached turn 1. Rick Lafferty’s car lost power on the back stretch and collected Chase Dietz who was lined up behind him in turn 3. Both cars rejoined the field for the complete restart.

Bollinger got by Givler and had the lead coming out of turn 2. Freddie was all over Givler for second and Brent Marks was up to fifth from his eighth starting spot.

Marks slid by Billy Dietrich for fourth in turn 2 on lap 3.

Rahmer got by Givler for second and started reeling in Bollinger to challenge him for the lead.

Marks once again used turn 2 to advance position, this time sliding by Givler for third.

Freddie went low into turn 1 on lap 7 and tried to slide by Bollinger for the lead but was not able to complete the pass. Lapped traffic loomed ahead of the leaders as Bollinger continued to hold off Rahmer.

As Bollinger and Rahmer worked through lapped traffic, Marks closed in and joined the battle at the front of the pack.

Freddie took the lead coming out of turn 2 on lap 10. Marks dove under Aaron for second as they raced into turn 3 on the next lap but Bollinger held the spot. Turn 2 proved lucrative yet again for Marks when he took second from Bollinger on lap 12. Anthony Macri and Danny Dietrich followed, sending Bollinger back to fifth.

Macri was searching for a way around Marks as they worked through lapped traffic when the caution came out on lap 18 for Brandon Rahmer. Rahmer spun out in turn 2.

Freddie led Marks, Macri, Danny and Bollinger to the cone for a single-file restart.

Givler went to work on Bollinger searching for a way into the top five with 10 laps to go.

Just as the leaders got back into lapped traffic the caution flag waved again when Justin Peck slowed and came to a stop on the back stretch on lap 23.

Marks got a good run on Freddie on the restart and tried to slide him for the lead in turn 2 but Rahmer held the spot.

Givler was back at it, challenging Bollinger for a spot in the top five with five laps to go.

The final yellow flag of the race came on lap 26 when Dylan Norris parked it in the turn 4 wall.

Freddie had a solid restart and a commanding lead coming out of turn 2 over Marks. Givler went back to work on Bollinger, getting by him for fifth with three laps to go.

A battle for third was brewing between Macri and Danny as the laps wound down. Danny got by Macri for the spot with two laps to go but Macri battled back to reclaim the position.

Freddie crossed the line ahead of Marks, Macri, Dietrich and Givler to earn $5,000 and his first Ice Breaker win. Devon Borden earned hard charger honors, driving from 24th to finish 11th.

Next Saturday, March 5, Lincoln Speedway is back in action with 410 Sprint Cars and open practice. Racing starts at 3PM with pit gates opening at 12:30PM and grandstand gates opening at 1PM. The open practice is open to divisions on the 2022 Lincoln Speedway schedule.

Other 2021 season highlights include a podium run in Port Royal’s April Open Wheel Madness program, and top-ten outcomes in Selinsgrove Speedway’s Jack Gunn Memorial and Jim Nace Memorial, respectively.

“We have a lot of momentum on our side and that’s exciting,” Whittall continued. “To get that first win means so much to me and the team. That was the best night of my career, but we’re hungry to do it again. That’s priority number one: get back to victory lane.”

Dominic Scelzi Kicking Off 2022 Season Saturday at Keller Auto Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - FRESNO, Calif. (Feb. 22, 2022) - Dominic Scelzi is riding a wave of confidence into the 2022 season following his career-best campaign last year.

Scelzi earned 22 feature triumphs and three sprint car championships in 2021. However, the consistency went far beyond just reaching Victory Lane a record number of times as Scelzi produced 49 top fives in 72 races.

"I feel very confident heading into this year," he said. "We had a lot of success last year so one of the biggest differences this year will be that we are the ones being chased. We have a target on our back. That's an exciting position to be in."

It all begins this Saturday when Scelzi ventures to Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif., to compete in both the 410ci and 360ci winged sprint car divisions.

"We've enjoyed a lot of success throughout the years in Hanford," he said. "It's probably the most Midwest-type of track in California. It can get slick and wide. I feel like we thrive on tracks like that. I'm looking forward to getting this season started on a positive note at one of our favorite places to race."

Scelzi earned six feature victories at Keller Auto Speedway last year, including sweeping the 410 and 360 features on May 14 and Oct. 8.

Williams Grove Speedway Introduces New Lineup Procedure, Axes Old Rule For 2022

Mechanicsburg - Fans at Williams Grove Speedway will notice a format change to a few racing programs at the oval this season.

With the 2022 season lidlifter slated for March 13 at 2 pm offering the 410 sprints and the first-ever appearance at the track by the wingless super sportsman, the oval recently went public with the qualifying tweak to four of its slated shows.

All four Yellow Breeches 500 races planned during the season will see timed practice laps used to set the heat starting lineups.

Hot lap/qualifying groups for the shows will be established and seeded equally based on each entered drivers season earning’s average to that point and all cars in a group will face off against the same opponents in their respective heat races.

An invert of the driver’s times after hot laps will be used to set the heat starting grids.

The top two or three heat finishers, based on the total number of heats contested, will then be placed into the front starting spots of the night’s main event again handicapped onto the grid based on each driver’s financial earning’s average to that point in the year.

Other rules updates for the season ahead include a change to a long-standing enforced penalty.

Officials have removed the two-week penalty clause that previously forced a driver who chose to compete directly against the oval to start at the rear of his or her heat race in the next two Williams Grove races they entered.

The speedway released a 31-date schedule for the 2022 racing season in November and is currently ramping up for the 2022 opener in just a few weeks.

Big Game Motorsports and Gravel Lead World of Outlaws Into Doubleheader in the South

Inside Line Promotions - WINDOM, Minn. (Feb. 21, 2022) - Big Game Motorsports driver David Gravel is heading to Mississippi and Louisiana this weekend when the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series resumes its season.

Gravel enters the doubleheader on Friday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., and Saturday at The Rev in Monroe, La., leading the World of Outlaws championship standings.

"I'm looking forward to going back to tracks we've raced at before," he said. "Everybody has notes going into it since everybody's been there. For us it was a new relationship last year. To go to a track a second time is great as we know each other better. We'll be able to make better adjustments throughout the night whereas we were guessing a little bit last year.

"I feel we were pretty respectable at both last year during our first time. The Rev went really well and Magnolia went pretty well."

Gravel finished sixth at Magnolia Motor Speedway before he set quick time during qualifying, won a heat race, placed second in the dash and captured the main event at The Rev for his first career win with Big Game Motorsports.

"It's all about qualifying well," he said. "If we can continue to qualify well and put ourselves in the dash it'll make our lives easier.

"We've always been pretty solid early in the night. Our most important thing is the A Main with a full fuel load and getting the car good early in the feature as well as really good at the end."

Hobaugh’s Florida trip complete, takes aim at Port Royal Speedway opener March 6

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

CHICORA, Pa. (February 21, 2022) – Like so many others in the open wheel world, Chicora, Pennsylvania’s George Hobaugh made the long tow south to the Sunshine State, joining the All Star Circuit of Champions for a two-day stint at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Florida, on February 14-15.

Despite a tough start to his winter escape, failing to qualify for main event action on Monday, the Western Pennsylvania traveler rebounded and cashed in for an A-Main starting position on Tuesday, finishing third in his respective heat race to earn a spot in the 30-lap, $6,000-to-win program. Still shaking off the off-season rust, Hobaugh maintained respectable track position and concluded the evening 17th in the final rundown; there were 38 cars in attendance.

“Not a bad way to get our year started. At the very least, we got to escape the Pennsylvania winter for a few days, so I’ll take that any day,” George Hobaugh stated, driver of the Hobaugh Motorsports, Krill Recycling, Laskowski Plumbing, Ridgeview Security, Hobaugh’s Auto Parts, Colliers Custom Kitchen and Bath, No. 40 sprint car. “I can’t thank my wife enough for all of her help and support. She was the crew this week, so it would have been pretty much impossible to make that trip without her. We’ll spend the next few weeks getting ourselves prepared for Port Royal.”

ON DECK:

Dietrich concludes challenging Florida campaign, Lincoln Speedway’s Icebreaker next

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (February 21, 2022) – It was a long and drawn-out two weeks for Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing, but despite the early tangle with Mother Nature that cost Dietrich four starts with the All Star Circuit of Champions, and a trio of frustrating DIRTcar Nationals outings with the World Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Volusia Speedway Park, “Double-D” did find some light, highlighting his southern swing with an 11th-place finish against the All Stars at East Bay Raceway Park on Monday, February 14.

Dietrich, driver of Gary Kauffman’s Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made Racing, No. 48 sprint car, was actually battling well within the top-ten before settling for one spot out, shuffled back after losing momentum following a wild single-file restart. The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, native started seventh on the feature grid, securing his place after earning the fastest time in his respective qualifying group, then finishing third in his heat race.

The 2021 Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek champion was actually on pace to score a similar result on Tuesday, but spark plug issues during the evening’s A-Main forced Dietrich to retire. “Double-D” kicked-off the evening with the fastest qualifying time overall.

“There were some shining moments amongst the chaos, but I don’t think that was the trip we were working toward. A lot of distractions early on especially with the weather, but you’ll have that. It was good to get there and shake things down,” Dietrich said. “Can’t thank my team enough for their efforts on this trip. It’s tough to have to sit around with no racing, but once the weather improved and we got going, they worked hard and never gave up. A big thanks to Gary Kauffman for allowing us to make the trip. We’re going to regroup this week and get ourselves ready for the Icebreaker on Saturday.”

ON DECK:
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2022 campaign with Lincoln Speedway’s annual season-opening Icebreaker on Saturday, February 26. Pennsylvania’s first 410 sprint car event of the season, the Saturday afternoon blockbuster will feature the Posse’s finest and will award $5,000. Dietrich was the 2020 Icebreaker champion.

Cory Eliason caps All Star Southern Swing with Jean Lynch Classic Victory at East Bay

TAMPA, Fla. (February 15, 2022) - In just his second try this season, Rudeen Racing’s Cory Eliason is a FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 main event winner, scoring the Jean Lynch Classic triumph at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Florida, on Tuesday, February 15. Eliason led every circuit of the 30-lap program, chased to the line by Dylan Westbrook, Monday night winner Tyler Courtney, Parker Price Miller, and Anthony Macri.

The Classic Ink USA Screenprinting and Embroidery Southern Swing presented by Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts victory, earning the Visalia, California, native a $6,000 payday, may have been convincing on paper, but the challenges were far from unnoticed, as the current All Star championship contender was forced to take evasive action on lap 15, making hard contact with a slower car while trying to put the driver one lap down. Luckily for Eliason, the Rudeen Racing/Hager Realty Service/Rayce Rudeen Foundation/No. 26 sprint car drove on unscathed.

Despite the aforementioned hiccup with the lapper, and a few early race cautions interrupting his momentum, the last half of the 30-lapper went relatively smooth for Eliason, eventually escaping to a 2.6-second lead by the time the final checkers flew.

The win bumps Eliason’s career total to nine with the traveling All Stars.

“This is a little bit of redemption, for sure. Hats off to my entire team. Last year was a tough year, but we’re starting things off right this year,” Cory Eliason said, who finished second in the 2021 All Star Circuit of Champions driver standings. “I love coming to Florida…I love Volusia and I love East Bay. I wish we actually got to come here more often, but we’ll take what we can when we come here.”

UP NEXT:
The FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will take a seven-week hiatus before resuming the 2022 season with a doubleheader at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday, April 8-9. XTREME GATORS: T-Mez Cashes In $10,000 at Volusia, Leary Wins DIRTcar Nationals Title Xtreme Outlaw Sprint Car Series Closes Out Spectacular Opening Event

BARBERVILLE, FL - February 15, 2022 - The Xtreme Outlaw Sprint Car Series presented by Low-E Insulation wrapped up a historic two days at Volusia Speedway Park on Tuesday night.

Not one, but two DIRTcar Nationals gator trophies were handed out and a big $10,000 check was on the line for the 35 gassers who supported the debut of the new Series.

In the end, nobody could touch Thomas Meseraull. The San Jose, CA native led all 30 laps at the Barberville, FL 1/2-mile in dominating fashion, never receiving a single challenge even when forced to handle two green-white-checkered finishes to close out the Feature.

Crossing the line with a 0.953-second margin of victory, T-Mez controlled the entirety of the race with a much more commanding lead aboard the Chris Dyson owned and Sean Michael wrenched #20M than what the final box score shows. In classic T-Mez fashion, his post-race interview was full of theatrics and sound bites.

"Hats off to Sean Michael for believing in me," Meseraull said. "I've torn up a lot of stuff, even this week, but here we are on the frontstretch. All you haters can hate all you want, but I keep on winning races. I kept thinking $10,000-to-win, so you better crash it before you even think of giving it up. I just kept giving it all she had, this thing was on rails tonight."

While T-Mez cashed a five-figure check, CJ Leary of Greenfield, IN scored the inaugural DIRTcar Nationals Big Gator Championship for the Xtreme Outlaw Series. The Michael Motorsports pilot was the most consistent driver with finishes of first and fifth, good enough to win him his first career golden gator.

"This is really special to win the first one," noted Leary, who also won Monday's debut. "We weren't good enough to get the win tonight, but winning this Big Gator is pretty damn cool. Now we've got a little one and a big one!"

The most intriguing storyline of the week came in the form of Brady Bacon and Dennis Gile. On Monday, Gile broke a driveline (thus breaking his foot) and leaving Bacon with nowhere to go as they collided and sent Bacon flipping into the fence. On Tuesday, they were suddenly teaming up together for a run at the gator.

Bacon climbed aboard Gile's #13 and showed speed right out of the box, setting QuickTime in his group and eventually earning high point man honors. The Broken Arrow, OK native advanced from sixth to second and had a chance at T-Mez on the final restarts, but fell just short of bringing "Big Money Brady" to Xtreme Outlaw victory lane.

"We're just making lemonade out of lemons," Bacon said flipping on Monday and running second on Tuesday. "I can't thank Dennis and his whole team enough for letting me run this car, otherwise I would've been up there in the standings. A huge thank you to the Xtreme Outlaw Series for putting this on and giving us some extra races for good money. We tried giving it a little hail mary on the bottom, but there just wasn't enough left to get a run at Thomas."

Closing out the podium with his second-straight TJ Forged Hard Charger Award was Chase Stockon, advancing from 10th to third aboard the KO Motorsports, Hutson John Deer #5S. Of 15 drivers committed to the full schedule, the Fort Branch, IN native will leave Volusia as the early-season favorite at claiming the inaugural $20,000 Xtreme Outlaw Sprint Car championship.

"We've got a lot of momentum on our side right now," Stockon said. "Hopefully, we can finish out the Florida swing and keep rolling with the Xtreme Outlaw guys. My guys have given me such awesome pieces both nights down here."

Robert Ballou and CJ Leary rounded out the top-five at Volusia, while Shane Cottle, Carson Short, Justin Grant, Shane Cockrum, and Alex Bright finished out the top-10 on Tuesday night.

UP NEXT - The Xtreme Outlaw Sprint Car Series presented by Low-E Insulation will next compete in early April alongside the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. Williamson Scores Two Top Fives During Debut at Needmore Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - NORMAN PARK, Ga. (Feb. 14, 2022) - Garet Williamson produced a pair of top-five finishes last weekend during his debut at Needmore Speedway.

Williamson and the Bryant Paver Motorsports team charged from 15 th to fifth on Friday before posting a third-place result on Saturday to cap the USCS Series doubleheader. The team has now earned five top fives in seven races in three different states this season.

"We are pleased with how we are rolling this year," he said. "We've been consistent. It helps to build momentum and to build our notebook up."

Williamson finished where he started - fifth - in a heat race on Friday after losing brakes. The team rebounded in the A Main as Williamson rallied from the inside of the eighth row to place fifth. It was tied for the second-most positions gained.

"Something hit our left front brake line and ripped it off midway through the heat," he said. "I didn't want to push the issue and tear something up, but wanted to at least maintain. That buried us for the feature, but I knew we could make the most of it. I think we had a better car than the fifth-place finish in the feature, but the circumstances in the heat race put us so far behind."

Saturday's program began with Williamson winning a heat race. He then advanced one position in the dash to end fifth, which started him on the inside of the third row in the feature.

"I think around Lap 10 we started moving forward," he said. "I had got to (Terry) McCarl and (Davie) Franek's bumper around Lap 20 when a red came out. We restarted single file and it spread out a bit, but we got back to them when another red came out. We were all pretty similar in speed. We needed long green-flag runs."

Williamson garnered a third-place outing, which was his third podium of the season.

The team heads to East Bay Raceway Park near Tampa, Fla., this Thursday through Saturday for the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s.

Sides Optimistic After Incident-Free DIRTcar Nationals

Inside Line Promotions - BARBERVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2022) - Jason Sides deemed the 51st annual DIRTcar Nationals a success.

Although the end result wasn't what he aimed to achieve each night at Volusia Speedway Park, Sides knocked the offseason rust off and was able to avoid a setback similar to what has hampered the start to several of the most recent seasons.

"We got out of there in one piece," he said. "Volusia had three completely different tracks for the three nights we raced and we survived without tearing anything up except tires. We are in good shape. The biggest thing is knocking the rust off. Without getting to run any All Star races and going straight into World of Outlaws action, it was a good weekend for us."

The practice night and the two scheduled FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions races were canceled because of inclement weather, leaving the first three rounds of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series season as the entirety for the DIRTcar Nationals.

Sides recorded his best feature finish of 20th on Thursday before ending 22nd on Friday. He narrowly missed a transfer into the main event and used a provisional on Saturday.

"All three nights were so different," he said. "We had some decent moments here and there. The biggest thing was qualifying on the third night being in the early group, which I thought would be good. Then the track got faster as it rubbered up. As I went down into turns one and two really hard it drifted and slid across. It just killed the tires. The rubber came in and pretty much everyone after us had a quicker time so that buried us. But we got through the weekend without a mechanical problem or a crash, which seems to be our goal after a few rough years there."

Sides will be off this weekend before resuming World of Outlaws competition Feb. 25 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., and Feb. 25 at The Rev in Monroe, La.
