On the heels of his 5th top-10, the most recent coming against the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions at Port Royal Speedway last weekend, Jeff Halligan returned to ‘The Speed Palace’ to begin chapter two of 2022.

‘Chapter two’ refers to the team’s phased approach to the season.  The All Star event culminated chapter one.  Now, entering the next phase, there are only three opportunities on the schedule to prepare for the next marquee event, the 2-day Bob Weikert Memorial at the end of May.  The Saturday/Sunday show will pay $10,000 and $29,000 to win respectively and will once again include the All Star series.  Saturday, April 30th presented the first of those three chances to be primed and ready for the next potential big pay day.

April 30:  Port Royal Speedway / Port Royal, PA

     (20 cars, Heat [1] 1st, Heat [2] 8th, A-main 6th)

The format for the night was dual 6-lap heats in which drivers could earn passing points.  After six laps, points are earned based on starting position versus finishing position.  Then, the original starting lineup is inverted and the field runs another six laps, again earning points based on their gain/loss of positions at the checkered flag.

A random pill draw set the initial heat lineups for the 20 teams on hand.  The top nine drivers in points following the dual heat races would get a chance to draw for their starting spot inside the top-1o for the 25-lap feature event.

Jeff Halligan lined up 3rd for the first of his two heat races.  He bolted to the lead on the opening lap and never looked back, earning the maximum points possible for the Risser Motorsports / TheTreeCenter.com / Victory Auto of Lewistown / EMM Sales & Service / Jake’s Golf Carts, No.45.

The second heat race was lined up by inverting the original starting lineup, putting Halligan 8th for the second 6-lap segment.  He was unable to gain any ground in the short event, coming home right where he started.

Having missed an opportunity in the second heat race to earn a few passing points and move himself up in the main event starting lineup, Halligan prepared his plan of attack for the A-main from his 10th starting position.

Halligan charged into 8th on the opening lap, then gave up one spot on the following circuit.  He held firmly onto 9th, not making much forward progress, until the race reached the final ten laps.

Halligan mounted a late charge, as he has done on several occasions this year, navigating his way from 9th to 6th in the closing laps, including a last lap pass for the final spot.

“We’re really close.  We’re right there running with the top guys.  We just missed an opportunity tonight.  Should’ve been in the redraw…needed one spot in the second heat race. “, Halligan commented.

“I can’t be upset with our night.  We finished 6th and put it in the trailer in one piece.  It’s a little frustrating, but not as frustrating as having to put a second car together this week. “

With six top-10’s in seven races, Halligan now sits in 4th place in the 2022 410 Sprint Car Championship points standings at Port Royal Speedway, just 25 points out of 2nd place.

Jeff Halligan and Risser Motorsports will be back at Port Royal on Saturday, May 7th.

Wilson Scores Podium During All Star Event at Lernerville Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - HARTFORD, Ohio (May 3, 2022) - Greg Wilson captured a podium for the third straight weekend thanks to a third-place effort last Friday at Lernerville Speedway.

The Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics and DNC Hydraulics backed Seeling Motorsports driver hustled into the runner-up position in the final laps of the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions event at the dirt oval in Sarver, Pa., before dropping a spot on the last lap by less than four hundredths of a second.

"We were really good," said Wilson, who won a heat race from third and advanced from seventh to fifth place in the dash. "I felt we were good from the time we unloaded until the end of the feature.

"It was one of those tracks where you needed to be patient. We were pretty good early and were running fourth or fifth. I started searching on the track and we got rolling around the middle to the top of turns one and two. I could float around the outside of people. As the race wore on our car changed a little and the track changed. We were in contention to catch Hunter (Schurenberg) and I felt we were pretty equal. We got to him in traffic, but never could do much with him. At the end the track cleaned off and he was running up in turns three and four. The track changed enough where it favored where he was running. It was one of those deals where I was still trying to win the race on the last lap. Tyler Courtney saw what was going on and nipped me at the line for second. I could have easily won the race as run third. I'm pretty happy with our direction."

The result was the second podium of the season for Wilson during All Star competition - his most with the series since 2019.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Sharon Speedway, where Wilson placed third in his heat race and 14th in the feature.

"Early in the night you had to really run the wall aggressively and I wasn't really comfortable," he said. "In the feature we threw some stuff at it that we wanted to try. Not a lot of people moved forward. You had to get in line and wait for someone to make a mistake. We didn't get the result we wanted, but I feel like as a whole for the caliber of cars we raced with it was a good weekend for us."

Wilson plans on racing this Friday and Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, during the #LetsRaceTwo event with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

Dominic Scelzi Records 50th Career Sprint Car Victory and Takes KWS/NARC Points Lead

Inside Line Promotions - CHICO, Calif. (May 3, 2022) - Dominic Scelzi achieved a pair of feats last weekend during two nights of competition at Silver Dollar Speedway.

Scelzi captured his 50th career winged sprint car triumph on Friday during the Brownell/Herseth Classic before using a third-place result on Saturday in the David Tarter Memorial to claim the lead in the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series championship standings.

"It's pretty neat to get win No. 50," he said. "It took a long time, 10 years and a few months. I'm so excited with the speed that we have. We've been extremely consistent. We don't have as many wins at this point as we did last year, but we have the consistency. That's every bit as important as being able to win races. The next big milestone is 75 and then 100 wins. I think we're on track to be there a lot faster than how long it took to get to 50 wins."

Scelzi opened Friday by qualifying eighth quickest. He then won a heat race from the outside of the front row before capturing both the dash and feature from the pole position.

"We started on the outside and got a good start as we led every lap of the heat race," he said. "We led the dash throughout to get the pole for the feature. It was about as treacherous as I've seen a curb. We had a good pace early. As the curb got bigger we moved down the track. We had a restart and Corey Day was on the inside of me. He slid me into turn one. Then he slid himself into turn three and I ran the bottom to get back by him. From that point on we went unchallenged to get the win. That's back-to-back Brownell/Herseth Classic wins, which is really neat."

The team returned to the oval on Saturday for the second KWS/NARC event of the season. Scelzi timed in 14th quickest. A heat race win locked him into the 10th starting position in the A Main.

"With qualifying in the grease it made it tough," he said. "We did what we needed to do in the heat to win. We missed the dash and started 10 th in the feature, but I wasn't crazy worried because last year at that race we went from 15th to the lead and lost it on a green-white-checkered finish. On Saturday I had a terrible first start. The outside row biked up against the cushion and I had to check up. That cost me a few spots. I didn't get back to 10th until six or seven laps in. As the race went on we made our way forward. We ran second down from a straightaway and got to him, but just couldn't get by him. On nights we don't win we want to get the best possible finish, which is critical to defend our series championship. We did that on Saturday."

The third-place run gives Scelzi a four-point lead in the championship standings.

Scelzi plans to take this weekend off before returning to action May 13 at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., and May 14 at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif., during the Peter Murphy Classic with the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series and Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

Phillips Produces First Career Sprint Car Win During Career-Best Weekend

Inside Line Promotions - SAPULPA, Okla. (May 3, 2022) - Elizabeth Phillips earned her first career winged sprint car feature victory last Friday night at The New Tulsa Speedway.

In fact, Phillips swept the night by also winning her heat race at the dirt oval in Tulsa, Okla., to kick off a career-best weekend that was capped on Friday with a charge from 10th to third in the A Main at Creek County Speedway.

"I wasn't 100 percent sure how the weekend was going to go and I didn't have super high expectations due to having a pretty bad weekend the week before," she said.

Phillips was up in the air about her racing plans early last week following mechanical woes that ended the previous weekend early, but the decision to race paid off right away on Friday evening for the 17-year-old who is in her first full season of racing sprint cars.

"We had a pretty good start to the night," she said. "After hot laps we made a couple of changes for the heat race and were able to pick up the win. That was a pretty big confidence booster to start on the pole for the feature. I knew there were some pretty good drivers starting behind me. It was a matter of figuring out where I was fastest on the track. It truly was my first night at The New Tulsa Speedway as the previous week we only ran a couple of laps in hot laps so we were learning as we were going.

"I had to make the right calls in traffic and navigate through it. We had a couple of cautions that made me a little nervous, but I had a really strong car and the engine was super strong. To bounce back from a somewhat rough start to the season was a confidence booster.

"It was so awesome. I was glad to be able to have my whole family and Shane there to watch it. Unfortunately, I'm losing my crew chief in a couple of weeks as he's relocating to South Dakota. He's been working with me to learn what I like in the car. Our communication has really stepped up. To be in the Winner's Circle was huge. I had a bunch of family and friends and fans out there so that was special as well. Plus, it was really humbling being the only girl in the field and to come out on top."

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Creek County Speedway, where Phillips placed third in both her heat race and the A Main.

"I didn't get a great pill draw and the track was super heavy from all the rain so we finished third in the heat race," she said. "There was a lot of tough competition. Before the feature I told my guys, 'Let's try to make it through this race and keep our nose clean. Let's shoot for a top five and try to come out clean since we have a big week coming up.'

"We fell back a little on the start. Once I figured out a good line to run I was able to pick off a couple of cars. There were a couple of wrecks I was able to avoid. Surviving the night was one of the biggest things with the wrecks and tangle-ups. There was a huge pack of traffic that we were able to make it through cleanly. With about 10 laps to go we were sitting fifth or sixth and then there was a caution. After we restarted we missed a wreck that put us up to fourth. We got to third and had a couple more cautions before we finished with a green-white-checkered restart. We were right there with those guys in front so that meant a lot to back up our win on Friday with a podium on Saturday."

Next up for Phillips is an AmeriFlex OCRS IMCA Sprint Cars event on Saturday at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan., before she makes her debut at Huset's Speedway in Brandon, S.D., on Sunday.

QUICK RESULTS -

April 29 - The New Tulsa Speedway in Tulsa, Okla. - Heat race: 1 (2); Feature: 1 (1).

Big Game Motorsports Earns Two Top Fives During World of Outlaws Bristol Bash

Inside Line Promotions - BRISTOL, Tenn. (May 2, 2022) - David Gravel posted back-to-back fifth-place finishes last weekend during the World of Outlaws Bristol Bash.

Both nights played out similarly for the Big Game Motorsports driver as Bristol Motor Speedway put down dirt to host the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series for the second straight year. Gravel is the only competitor to record a top-five result during all four features.

"The track was so fast and you're running wide open around there," he said. "If the track had less grip it'd been better, but it was the way it was. It wasn't in our cards this past weekend."

Gravel qualified fourth quickest on Friday and sixth quickest on Saturday. He placed second in a heat race each night to advance into the dash. Gravel lost a spot in each dash, placing sixth on Friday and fifth on Saturday.

"There wasn't too much moving around," he said. "We didn't get the dash draws we needed. I thought on Saturday we had a good chance to have a good run as we started fourth in the dash. I wasn't able to take advantage. I had a bad start in turns one and two and fell back to fifth."

Gravel gained a spot in the feature on Friday and he maintained fifth throughout Saturday's main event. The results give him 11 top fives in 17 starts this season.

"I thought it was a solid weekend," he said. "We were in the mix all weekend. You want to win, especially when there's more money on the line, but running in the top five both nights was what was in our cards."

Next up for the team is a doubleheader at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, this Friday and Saturday. Gravel produced two podiums, three top fives and five top 10s in seven World of Outlaws races at the track last year.

"I'm looking forward to getting back to Eldora," he said. "I'm excited to go to tracks we go to multiple times a year and see where we stack up."

Williamson Posts Fifth-Place Result on Opening Night at Knoxville Raceway

Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 2, 2022) - Garet Williamson recorded a top-five result last Saturday during the Knoxville Raceway season opener.

It marked the sixth top five - in the fourth different state - of the season for the Bryant Paver Motorsports driver.

"It was a really smooth night and a really good learning night," he said. "For being our first time there this year it was really good. After having a good run at the 360 Knoxville Nationals last summer it was great to go back and continue our momentum."

Williamson timed in eighth quickest before he advanced from fourth to second place in a heat race. The feature inversion lined him up on the inside of the third row for the A Main.

"We qualified well and passed cars in the heat race," he said. "We were good in the feature and contending for spots. If a couple of things went different I think we would have been on the podium. I ran fourth for a little and went to slide Chase (Randall) for third and we got passed. Three of us were all right there at the finish line battling for a podium."

Williamson aims to return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday before making his debut at Huste's Speedway in Brandon, S.D., on Sunday during the Cressman Sanitation Shootout.

"I'm really excited to see Huset's," he said. "A lot of people have told me how fun it is. I've seen a lot of races of the track on video and it looks like it's right up my alley."

Kaleb Johnson Nets Podium in 360 Division and Gains 410 Experience During Knoxville Raceway Season Opener

Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 2, 2022) - Kaleb Johnson made the most of his night last Saturday during the season opener at Knoxville Raceway, where he competed in both the 360ci and 410ci winged sprint car divisions.

Johnson, who will run full time in the 360 class at Knoxville Raceway this season, started the year on the right note by qualifying seventh quickest. He advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race and lined up on the outside of the third row in the A Main.

"We tried a little different setup," he said. "In the heat race I was battling being too free. I wasn't too happy with the car, but sometimes you'll get that trying new stuff. Then in the feature I was able to work the bottom on a couple of restarts to get by a couple of people. I feel we had a fifth or sixth-place car. I definitely didn't have anything for the top two, but I was pleased with a third-place finish."

The third-place outing was Johnson's best run of the season. He also tied a career-best 410 result with a 19th-place showing.

"Our main goal was to make the A Main in the 410," he said. "I don't have many laps in a 410 and it was our first time at Knoxville in it. It went pretty well. I drew the No. 75 for the 360 and the No. 2 for the 410. Instead of going out real early in qualifying and being in a rush I told them I'd go out last in the 410. We didn't qualify the greatest, but I wasn't expecting to. I was able to stay where I started in the heat race and the B Main."

Johnson qualified 21st quickest. He finished where he lined up in both a heat race - seventh - and the B Main - second. That advanced him into the feature, which was cut short for Johnson.

"I was getting a lot of track time and I think it worked out well," he said. "I made it up to about 13th at one point. I was mainly just running the bottom. I didn't want to risk tearing anything up ripping the top on our first night out with it. Unfortunately, we had the tie-rod fall off with about five laps to go and we pulled into the pits."

Johnson will venture to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday before tackling the Cressman Sanitation Shootout at Huset's Speedway in Brandon, S.D., on Sunday.

World of Outlaws Morgan Cup Weekend Coming To Williams Grove May 13 & 14 Californians leading the way into Posse Land battle!

Mechanicsburg – The NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Series will make its first visit of the season to Williams Grove Speedway coming up in two weeks, on May 13 and 14.

The outlaws will battle the Pennsylvania Posse in the H & N Landscaping Morgan Cup Weekend, getting underway both nights at 7:30 pm.

Adult general admission on Friday is set at $30 with Saturday priced at $35. Youth ages 13 –20 will be admitted for $15 both nights.

Kids ages 12 and under are always admitted for FREE at Williams Grove.

Friday night’s affair will pay $10,000 to the winner of the 25-lap feature event.

Saturday’s 30-lap winner will receive $12,000 plus another 5K to be declared the 2022 Morgan Cup Champion to go along with bragging rights as Morgan Cup Champion for a year of either the World of Outlaws series stars or those of the Pennsylvania Posse.

Each feature event, both Friday and Saturday, will pay $1,000 just to start.

A sweep of both nights could net one driver a cool $27,000!

In memory of former track champion Jim Nace, the Fast Tees Fast Time Award worth $300 will be up for grabs both nights for the driver who sets overall quick time.

Lemoore, California’s Carson Macedo has been in outlaws victory lane most this season to date, pocketing four wins as the Williams Grove shows come into sight.

Aboard the Jason Johnson Racing No. 41, Macedo is arguably off to the best start to a season of his outlaws career.

Further back on the win list but again sitting atop the World of Outlaws Series points as Williams Grove dawns is “The Big Cat,” Brad Sweet of Grass Valley, California.

Sweet has just one win on the year so far but has racked up the top five finishes, sitting at 12 in 17 season starts.

The Californians are primed for their invasion into Posse land as is Connecticut’s David Gravel who is now third in outlaws points.

Two of the trio in the form of Gravel and Macedo have gotten the job done at Williams Grove already in their careers, combining for a total of 11 career oval wins while Sweet is still looking for his elusive first.

Just like last season at this point, no driver has been dominant at Williams Grove this year with five main events having spread the wealth between five different drivers including Justin Peck, Dylan Norris, Anthony Macri, Dylan Norris and most recently Devon Borden.

Danny Dietrich is the current points leader.

Macri has been on fire in the region during the last few weeks, scoring six of seven events entered at one point during mid-April.

Both he and independent 2022 runner Marks, who has shown great speed this season and has already picked up a win on the trail this year with the World of Outlaws, may be the “locals” best chances at pulling off a win on May 13 and 14.

Advanced reserved seat tickets for all 2022 Williams Grove Speedway and the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Series events are available exclusively through the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws.

Fans who wish to obtain any reserved seats for any of the six outlaws events at the track in 2022 can purchase tickets via the official outlaws official website located at www.worldofoutlaws.com/tix or by calling 1.844.DIRT.TIX.

A premier residential and commercial landscaping company in the region, H & N Landscaping will present the entire weekend of World of Outlaws/Pennsylvania Posse racing action.

H & N Landscaping, located at 675 Williams Grove Road in Mechanicsburg, has been serving the region for over 35 years.

Contact H & N at 717.697.2908 or by visiting them on the web at www.handnlandscapingllc.com.

VP Fuels Outlaws Tune Up Night Is Friday At Williams Grove 358 sprints make season debut, Will Locke add to his string?

Mechanicsburg – Williams Grove Speedway will host VP Racing Fuels Night on May 6, featuring the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars and the HJ Towing & Recovery 358 sprints.

The event will be a Hoosier Diamond Series race for the 410 sprints, paying $6,000 to win as a World of Outlaws tune up.

The race will be the last chance for the Williams Grove sprint car drivers and teams to prepare themselves for the May 13 and 14 invasion by the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars series.

Time trials will set the heat lineups with the fast timer earning the $300 Fast Tees Fast Time Award.

For the 358 sprint cars the race will be their season opener of sorts after their first slated race was lost to weather in April.

Derek Locke will be in the spotlight as the division hits the track as fans and teams wait to see if he can run his string of wins up to 10 in a row.

The Carlisle driver has won every 358 sprint event contested at the track since September 25, 2020.

Each 358 sprint heat on the night and all through the season will pay $50 to win thanks to High Side Apparel.

Race sponsor and official fuel supplier of Williams Grove Speedway, VP Racing Fuels will have fan giveaways for the night and the VP Mad Scientist will be on hand to greet those in attendance.

Adult general admission for May 6 is set at $20 with youth ages 13-20 admitted for just $10 while kids ages 12 and under are always admitted for FREE at Williams Grove Speedway.

Presented by H & N Landscaping, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars will roll into Williams Grove to compete in Morgan Cup weekend on May 13 and 14.

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

JONESTOWN, Pa. (May 2, 2022) – Taming the highbanks of Bristol Motor Speedway is never an easy feat, but Brock Zearfoss and Brock Zearfoss Racing did their very best to do so over the weekend, eventually capping their visit with a pair of impressive performances including a top-ten result to open the Bristol Bash doubleheader on Friday, April 29.

Zearfoss, ace of the Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill, Heavy Equipment, Loaders & Parts Inc., C&D Rigging Inc., Klick Lewis Cars, J.P. The “Jonestown Jet” is now the owner of four World of Outlaws top-ten finishes this season and is currently tenth in the championship standings.

“That was a fun weekend. The size of that place is pretty humbling, and the speeds are remarkable. To have the opportunity to race at a venue like Bristol is pretty special and we’re already excited to go back next season,” Brock Zearfoss explained, a sophomore with the Greatest Show On Dirt. “We have a big weekend ahead at Eldora, then we get to race in our own backyard. I think I speak for everyone when I say we’re excited to get back and battle at Lincoln and The Grove.”

Dietrich victorious again at Lincoln, puts on passing clinic at Williams Grove

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (May 2, 2022) – “Double-D” Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing have become almost unbeatable in the Pigeon Hills this season, and that certainly rang true again during the recent weekend with Dietrich capturing his fourth Lincoln Speedway victory since March 26, and doing so from row four.

Dietrich, who owns a personal single season win record of nine at the Abbottstown oval, rocketed forward right from the start, taking command for the first time with only ten laps recorded. Devin Borden and Freddie Rahmer did their best to dethrone Dietrich in the very late stages of the race, but their efforts were far from overpowering.

Although not victorious, Dietrich’s performance at Williams Grove Speedway one night prior was almost as impressive, eventually charging ahead from 17th to finish second, securing his place in the runner-up spot after out-dueling Mark Smith in slide fest with two to go. The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, native was forced to start 17th after engine trouble plagued the Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made Racing, No. 48 during heat race competition.

“If we are going to get hot, now is the time to do it, especially with the World of Outlaws coming to Lincoln next week,” Danny Dietrich said. “This is a total team effort right now and everyone involved is doing such a great job. And a special thanks to all of the fans. They have been more than supportive and we couldn’t do any of this without them.”

ON DECK:
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2022 campaign with another Central Pennsylvania doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, May 6-7, returning to Williams Grove Speedway and Lincoln Speedway in respective fashion. Williams Grove Speedway’s Outlaw Tune Up will award a $6,000 payday.

Whittall with consistent weekend in Posse Country; Outlaw Tune Up ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

VINCENTOWN, N.J. (May 2, 2022) – Justin Whittall and JW Motorsports are enjoying a consistent and competitive season thus far in 2022, and the team’s recent weekend results prove just the same, translating visits to Williams Grove Speedway and Port Royal Speedway on Friday and Saturday, April 29-30, into back-to-back top-ten appearances highlighted with a seventh-place score at The Grove on Friday. Whittall started the main event in the exact same position, actually slipping back as far as 11th before recovering for the top-ten.

One night later at the Port Royal “Speed Palace,” Whittall finished ninth during main event action, forced to recover from the tail after contact with the outside retaining wall forced the Vincentown, New Jersey, native to the work area. Whittall lined up 14th on the grid before his mishap.

“We’re plugging away right now and things feel good. I’m excited to have some positive momentum on our side, especially with the World of Outlaws coming to town in just over a week. Hobaugh nearly an All Star winner at Sharon; Return visits to Lernerville and Sharon ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

CHICORA, Pa. (May 2, 2022) – George Hobaugh and Hobaugh Motorsports turned some heads on Saturday night during their visit to Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, joining the All Star Circuit of Champions for the annual Buckeye Cup awarding $6,500. Almost perfect during preliminary action, Hobaugh kicked-off the All Star program with a heat race victory, eventually driving on to score the evening’s dash win resulting in the pole position for the 30-lap main event.

Leading the first 28 laps, Hobaugh, aboard his Krill Recycling, Laskowski Plumbing, Ridgeview Security, Hobaugh’s Auto Parts, Colliers Custom Kitchen and Bath, No 40 sprint car, was almost untouchable, even navigating through traffic with ease during the bulk of the contest. But, to Hobaugh’s dismay, his ability to turn the car became more and more difficult, and on lap 29, the lead was lost to Myerstown’s Brent Marks. The Chicora, Pennsylvania, native was able to hang on to finish fifth, but four spots shy of the ultimate goal.

“That’s a tough one to swallow. The car was getting tighter and tighter, and it was getting tough to turn. This one may haunt us for a while, but at least we know what we are capable of doing,” Hobaugh explained, a former All Star runner-up at Sharon. “All we can do is regroup and try again this weekend. We have a long season ahead of us. There is still plenty of time to redeem ourselves.”

Thiel with up and down All Star weekend in Pennsylvania and Ohio; Aim set on Knoxville visit

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (May 2, 2022) – It was not the road trip that the “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel and Team 73 had hoped for, but the lap time on unfrequented territory will ultimately prove beneficial.

Thiel, ace of the Gibbsville Cheese, Walkers Game Ear, Professional Plating Inc, Scott Thiel Builders, Stealth Cam, Muddy Outdoors, Complete Water Inc, No. 73 sprint car, joined the All Star Circuit of Champions for a two-day battle through Western Pennsylvania and northeastern Ohio during the recent weekend, visiting Lernerville Speedway and Sharon Speedway on Friday and Saturday, April 29-30, respectively.

Although his visit to Sharon for the annual Buckeye Cup ended in frustrating fashion, running out of fuel while leading a caution-filled B-Main, Thiel’s visit to Lernerville one night prior had plenty of shining moments, kicking things off with the fastest qualifying time in his respective group, which propelled the Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native to the evening’s All Star dash.

The recent Beaver Dam Raceway IRA Outlaw Sprint Series winner would go on to start eighth on the Lernerville grid, but to his misfortune, things would not improve, slowly fading on a slick and tricky surface before being scored 23rd.

“Not the weekend we wanted for our team, but unfortunately, those kinda come with the territory, but it’s up to us to find ways to improve and hopefully do things differently when we return,” Scotty Thiel explained, who dominated action at Beaver Dam Raceway one weekend ago. “Hats off to this entire team. They’ve been busting their butts all season long and I’m proud of what we’ve been doing. We have some tremendous support this season and it’s up to us to represent them at the highest level.”

Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports score $25,000 payday in Bristol Bash finale; Eldora Speedway on deck

2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Sixth | 2230 points [140 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet]

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

CARLISLE, Pa. (May 2, 2022)  – For the first time in 2022, and for the first time as a full-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competitor, Lebanon, Indiana’s Spencer Bayston is a Series winner, doing so at the Last Great Colosseum – Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee – on Saturday, April 30. The $25,000 victory, the largest of Bayston’s career, was accomplished in exciting, yet fantastic fashion, as the World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year contender was forced to outduel defending NASCAR Cup Series champion, Kyle Larson, in a two-lap shootout. Suffice it to say, Bayston came out on top, officially leading every lap of the Bristol Bash finale to lock down a third-career World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series victory.

Bayston secured his place in Bristol Motor Speedway victory lane with a bold move as the white flag waved, barely squeezing between Larson’s No. 57 and the outside retaining wall during a slider attempt by the defending NASCAR champion.

“This has been a long time coming,” Bayston said in Bristol Motor Speedway victory lane. “We’ve been so damn fast every night. Barry Jackson is doing a phenomenal job. I feel more comfortable in this CJB #5 than I have in my whole career in any other race car. This is a testament to the equipment that Chad Clemens provides and what Barry Jackson, Scott [Vogelsong], and Brendan [Collum] do with it. Winning at Bristol Motor Speedway is something I’ll never forget.

“I’ve got all the respect in the world for Kyle [Larson],” Bayston said with his Bristol Bash gladiator sword in hand. “He didn’t need to give me that little lane, but when I saw it open I was fully committed to sending it around the outside. It was quite unnerving, but we’re standing in victory lane and that’s all that matters. It’s a high-speed, high-risk moment, but we came out with a high reward.”

Just one night prior in the Bristol Bash opener, Bayston, aboard the CJB Motorsports, Signing Day Sports, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, The Dunn Group, Highlands’ Power Sports, High Performance Lubricants, FK Rod Ends, Allstar Performance, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Walker Filtration, No. 5 sprint car, finished eighth after starting fifth, kicking off the program with a runner-up performance during heat race competition to lock into the evening’s dash.

With all results considered, Bayston, the leading Rookie of the Year candidate, is now sixth in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings, now 140-points back of defending Series champion, Brad Sweet.

ON DECK:
Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a doubleheader at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track – Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday, May 6-7. Dubbed #LetsRaceTwo weekend, the Greatest Show On Dirt will be joined by the USAC National Sprint Cars for a true open wheel experience.
