Bill Stine claims first career win in “358” sprints; Rick Hulson best of All-American Outlaws

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 8/22/2015 – Not even the highest pill draw and points handicapping can stop Danny Dietrich.

In his first Lincoln appearance since competing in the “A” main at the Knoxville Nationals, Dietrich started last in his heat, made the 12-car handicap, started 12th, and drove away to his sixth Lincoln win in the BAPS Night “410” sprint car feature at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night.

“Night in, night out these guys give me a fast car. I couldn’t be any happier,” said Dietrich upon exiting his Gary Kauffman-owned Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Hickory Run Orchards/Weikert’s Livestock #48 in victory lane, “To be sitting here again after going out on the road and picking up where we left off…we’re doing real good.”

Despite another masterful run through the field, Dietrich did have one close call as he closed on polesitter and race-long leader Tim Wagaman on the front stretch of lap 14.

“We got real lucky here on the front stretch. Zach (Euculano) was off the pace and pulling into the infield. I tried to stay behind him as long as I could just because there was nowhere to go around the top,” said Dietrich, “I didn’t know Cory (Haas) was there, and that was close…closer than I like to be. But these guys that we race with week in and week out are very clean racers, and I can’t thank all of them enough. Being clean on the track means we don’t tear anything up.”

Dietrich regrouped and drove around Wagaman exiting turn two of lap 15. From there, he checked out on the field, crossing 3.09 seconds in front of seventh-starting Haas.

Brandon Rahmer started second, ran second the first 12 laps, dropped to fourth with ten to go, and fought back to a well-earned third-place finish. Alan Krimes and Gerard McIntyre, Jr. completed the top five. Wagaman settled for sixth, followed by Brian Montieth, who came from the rear of the field following a second lap spin. Eighth and ninth were the BAPS cars of Brent Marks, 18th-starting Austin Hogue, and Kyle Moody.

BAPS Auto Paints & Supply provided $300 bonuses to the two sprint car winners, and added $200 to the second-place finisher and $100 to the third-place finisher in each sprint division. Fundraising efforts during BAPS two nights of 2015 Lincoln racing resulted in $7,000 for Olivia’s House in York.

Heats for the 27 410’s on hand were won by Brandon Rahmer, Jim Siegel, and Moody, with Scott Fisher winning the consolation.

Bill Stine started on the pole and led every lap of the “358” sprint car feature for his first career division win, despite losing the lead for a portion of a lap and reclaiming the lead from eighth-starting Adrian Shaffer, who chased the winner from lap four on.

Third through fifth were Lincoln point leader Doug Hammaker (who started 12th), Kevin Nouse, and Cole Young. Sixth through tenth were Matt Campbell (sporting a #31 to wing in remembrance of Jimmy Campbell), Tyler Esh, Ryan Higgins, Cody Fletcher, and Jeff Rohrbaugh (who came from the rear twice in multi-car crashes, the last one on lap eight).

Heats for the 29 358’s on hand were won by Campbell, Stine, and Nouse, with Lucas Montgomery winning the consolation.

Glen Bernie, Maryland’s Rick Hulson led flag-to-flag in the 20-lap All-American Outlaw feature, holding off Fred Cullum the entire way and crossed .97 seconds behind the winner. The victory ended a five-race win streak for teammate Kurt Zimmerman, who came from 11th starting spot to finish third. Fourth and fifth were Randy Doty and Justin Cullum.

Heats for the 17 All American Outlaws on hand were won by Zimmerman and Hulson.
