SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Selinsgrove Speedway will present the 21st Annual Jeff’s Auto Body & Recycling Center Late Model National Open sanctioned by the Morton Buildings World of Outlaws Late Model Series at 7 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 21.

The Late Model National Open will be the last race of the season and will pay $10,000 to win and $700 to start the 40-lap main event out of the $40,000-plus purse.

Joining the super late models on the racing card will be the limited late models in a 20-lap feature paying $1,000 to win and $100 to start.

In last year’s 20th Anniversary Late Model National Open, World of Outlaws regular Chris “Smokey” Madden of Gray Court, S.C., became the 12th different winner of the event.

Former 12-time track champion Jeff Rine of Danville scored his first career win in a World of Outlaws main event in the 2017 race which also marked his fifth victory in the Open. Rine’s other Open wins occurred in 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009.

Previously, Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., won three straight Selinsgrove Late Model Opens sanctioned by the World of Outlaws from 2013-2015 with Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark., claiming a WoO win in 2016.

Chris Shuey of Orefield won the inaugural Late Model Open in 1999 followed by a win in the 2001 race. Nick Dickson of Lewistown is the only other repeat winner with victories in 2007 and 2012.

Other past winners of the Late Model Open include Kenny Pettyjohn of Millsboro, Del. (2000); Dale Kerstetter of Liverpool (2002); Jeff Smith of Blain (2003); Scott Haus of Hamburg (2004); Dan Stone of Thompson (2010); and Rick Eckert of York (2011).

This season has been one of the most competitive in track history for the super late model division with 11 different winners in 13 races. Coleby Frye of Dover is the only repeat winner with three checkered flags and the 2019 track championship at Selinsgrove.

In limited late model racing at the track, four races have produced four different winners. Feature winner Shaun Miller of Tower City leads the limited series standings by just 40 points over one-time winner Jared Fulkroad of Mifflintown entering this weekend’s final race.

Limited late model rules in effect for this race include 358 cubic inch maximum engines and any brand of 11 inch tires. The limited late model weight rule will be 2,350 pounds with driver.
