Starks Tackling World of Outlaws Event at Huset's Speedway This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions - PUYALLUP, Wash. (Aug. 31, 2020) - Trey Starks is heading to Huset's Speedway this weekend for a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event.

The Gobrecht Motorsports driver will compete on Saturday and Sunday at the high-banked oval in Brandon, S.D., where Starks made his debut earlier this month. He qualified 12th quickest overall and advanced from fifth to third place in a heat race before capping the night with a 20 th-place result in the A Main.

"I felt like we were pretty solid up until the feature," he said. "It was nice to get on a short track again. Come feature-time we didn't make the adjustments that we needed, but we had a solid qualifying effort and ran well in the heat race. I think we have a good baseline to start with this weekend. We just have to tune it up for the feature when the track gets slick. In a lot of ways it emulates Skagit Speedway, so that works into our hand a little bit.

"I'd like to get rolling consistent again. To make both features would be nice. We'd like to start from there and build momentum."

The remainder of the 2020 season is up in the air for Gobrecht Motorsports. The team competed full time at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, for the second straight year. The track announced last week that the final four races of 2020 were canceled because of COVID-19 concerns. Starks finished ninth in the championship standings after earning five top 10s.

"It was definitely different," he said. "It was hard to get a rhythm going. I'm happy with some of our results. Early in the Knoxville season we had a combination that wasn't working. The opportunity to build on something was there, but it seemed like there wasn't enough races and we didn't string enough good results together to build momentum. I'm hoping we can end the season on a strong note during however many races we have remaining."
