Jim and Sandy Kline Warrior Award to Return for 2022 Sponsored by J&S Classics

Port Royal Speedway – PORT ROYAL, PA – (Feb 4, 2022) For the second consecutive season, longtime car owners and supporters of the Central Pennsylvania race scene, Jim and Sandy Kline will be the official sponsors of the Port Royal Speedway “Warrior Award” for the 2022 race season.

The “Warrior Award” will allow some lucky sprint car driver each week to pocket a cool $1000 in cash and will benefit those who finish farther back in the field. Beginning March 6th with the 80th annual Port Royal Speedway Opening Day kickoff and running through the Sept. 10th 55th annual Tuscarora 50, a winner will be drawn weekly at random in victory lane to receive the second-year award and the money.

For all regular weekly 410 Sprint Car Weikert’s Livestock events, the numbers eligible will be from seven to 24 and whoever finishes in the position number drawn will receive $1000 as that week’s winner. For all six of the FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions events and the two PA Speedweek shows the numbers will represent positions 11 to 24.

“We did this award last season and it seemed to be a real big hit with the drivers and fans," said Jim Kline. "It's an award that can benefit everybody. Whether it be a low buck team who is struggling to get in the show or a team that gets in a wreck and it's just a bad night, the Warrior Award goes a long way in supporting the teams who support racing."

While this will be the Kline's second year sponsoring the one-of-it's-kind award, new to this season will be the promoting sponsor of the award. The newly created J & S Classics will take the place of  longterm racing sponsor J & S Fabrications.

J & S Classics is a new custom street rod build business created by the Kline's that combines Jim's love of custom street rod cars and a continued support of motorpsorts. Jim's wife Sandy noted that it was a conversation many years ago about her Corvette at Silver Springs Speedway that started their longterm courtship and this business endeavor brings things for them full circle.

“Many years ago I was on my way to Silver Springs Speedway and I saw Jim with a team headed to the track and the first words he said to me was about my Corvette," said Sandy Kline. "Now that we are kind of slowing down a bit, this gives Jim a way to build his dream shop and do the things he's always loved and that is building custom street rods."

Jim Kline noted that the shop has a full fabrication shop and is equipped with a spray shop as well to complete the custom builds. For the meantime, he'll focus on his own personal builds and may eventually expand to outside customer builds.

They added that they appreciate all the hard work that Port Royal Speedway has put into making it a premier racing destination and they wanted to reward that hard work by again being part of the 2022 race season.

“Some people will say that Hershey Park is the sweetest place on earth, but I always tell everyone that Port Royal Speedway is the sweetest place on dirt," said Sandy Kline. "When you see how much the team at Port Royal has put into making it a real racing destination for fans and drivers, it makes it easy to support them and we'll keep doing it as long as we can."

Last year saw the family hand out a grand total of $27,000 throughout the season in the 410 Sprint Car ranks, which included an unprececented $6000 prize during the Tuscarora 50 finale. Even crazier, 21 different drivers received the bonus in 22 events, with only one driver repeating throughout the season.

"It was really cool to see how many different drivers we were able to help and I know how much it meant to them to receive the extra $1000," said Jim Kline. "When you get a phone call from a guy telling you thanks or that they were able to buy new tires or something with it, it makes it all worth it and tells me our efforts don't go unnoticed."

Speedway head promoter Steve O’Neal added that he appreciates everything Jim & Sandy Kline has done for the sport and is looking forward to continuing to build on a relationship that goes back decades.

“You can’t talk about Central PA racing and car owners without adding Jim and Sandy Kline to the mix and we are incredibly proud and happy to present this Warrior Award from J&S Classics in 2022,” said O’Neal. “This is a huge deal for our drivers and we could not do it without the support of the Kline’s. I can’t thank them enough for choosing Port Royal Speedway and I’m looking forward to another year of handing out money and making memories.”
